A total of 3,373 poker players turned out on Day 1a in the first of four flights of the Event #5: $500 The Housewarming No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 World Series of Poker in its new home at Bally's and Paris Las Vegas.

The massive field contributed $1,416,660 to the prize pool, so the event is on pace to surpass its $5,000,000 guarantee by a considerable amount.

After 22 levels of play, WSOP bracelet winner Justin Liberto is the commanding chip leader with 4,255,000. Other players near the top of the leaderboard include Jordan Hufty (3,750,000), Clifford Conners (2,375,000), and Jonathan Williams (2,370,000).

Liberto won a bracelet in 2015 in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event, and he will return on Day 2 to continue his quest for a second WSOP title.

Elsewhere on Day 1a, Allen Kessler hit the rail after the bubble when he got his stack in with ace-jack, but his opponent made a flush with once dominated queen-jack. Katie Kopp also took her shot a day after winning the first bracelet in Event #1: $500 Casino Employees Event. However, Kopp didn’t find a bag for Day 2, but she will have three more opportunities in the remaining flights.

Other runners that cashed but fell short of Day 2 included James Romero, Maria Konnikova and WSOP bracelet winner Stephen Song. Notables who fell throughout the day included bracelet winners Howard Mash, Ryan Laplante and Women in Poker Hall of Fame member Kathy Liebert.

Cards go in the air for Day 1b at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and the second of four flights will once again play 22 30-minute levels. Surviving players from all flights will return for Day 2 on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m.

Play Comes To An End

Niveau 22 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

After a grueling day that saw more than 3,300 players enter, just 147 have found a bag to advance to Day 2. Players who did not bag today will have three more flights to do so.

A full recap of today's events will be posted shortly.

Nhat Pham Had Kings Cracked

Niveau 22 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Another three-way all-in hand just took place. This time, Nhat Pham held {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and almost 500,000 chips and was pretty confident when he saw {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for Wordofa Endale Tolosa, who had 650,000, and {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for Stephen Moss, who had 360,000.

But the board of {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} gave two pair for Moss.

Nhat Pham was eliminated but didn't forget to say that he had a lot of fun today, while Moss is now armed with more than a million chips.

Triple Up For Eric Tea With The Worst Hand

Niveau 22 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

After a raise from Stephen Moss in the cutoff, Eric Tea took his chance for his last 100,000.

Right after him, in the big blind, Jorge Kiriakidis announced all-in for 390,000. Stephen Moss thought for a while before calling, meaning three players were all-in.

Eric Tea: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Stephen Moss: {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Jorge Kiriakidis: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The dealer spread a board reading {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, which gave Tea a pair of sevens. The French player tripled up, while the side pot went to the player from Venezuela, who seemed also very happy with this.
