Carvalho Takes Another One

Niveau 32 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

In a pot of roughly 3,000,000 on a board of {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}, Erik Carvalho called 2,000,000 on the turn from his opponent first to act.

The river came the {5-Spades} with the big blind player betting again for 1,000,000 this time. Carvalho quickly called and his opponent rolled over {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, which could not beat his {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, a pair with a better kicker.

Kingery's Quad Kings Score Double Knockout

Niveau 31 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

The PokerNews team was called over to a table while the dealer was finishing counting up each players stack. The players at the table were kind enough to relay the hand.

Early position opened to 900,000. The player next to act jammed for 2,500,000. It folded back around to Jared Kingery in the small blind who covered both opponents and jammed for 13,700,000. The initial raiser made the call for his remaining 12,000,000 and cards were on their backs.

Jared Kingery: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: (12,000,000) {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: (2,500,000) {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Spades}, very suitable for Kingery's last name, making quad kings to eliminate two players and joining the chip leaders in the tournament.

The river came the {j-Clubs} and Thavarajah bet 2,500,000. Carvalho went into the tank before making the call.

Thavarajah showed {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the bluff and Carvalho tabled his {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} for two pair for the winner.

Laneyherdt Behind Against Pocket Pair

Niveau 31 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

"I'm all in", was announced by the player in the cutoff, for a bet of 5,700,000.

Parker Laneyherdt was the lone caller in the big blind, and it was for most of his chips.

Cutoff: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Parker Laneyherdt: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Laneyherdt was behind, but had overcards to the pocket pair. Even though the flop of {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} kept the cutoff in front, Laneyherdt now had the nut flush draw as well.

Instead of the flush, he hit the ace he needed on the {a-Hearts} turn, giving him the better pair.

The {2-Spades} on the river was no help to the player at risk, and they were eliminated.

The action was picked up when both players cards were on their backs. Paul Lentz was all in and at risk for his last 3,300,000 and was called by Donna LaDuke.

Paul Lentz: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Donna LaDuke: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} securing LaDuke the pot with ace-high but better kicker, eliminating Lentz in 128th.

Paul Lentz mentioned to PokerNews about his previous deep runs in now the three largest player fields in WSOP history. In 2015 he finished 4th in the $400 Colossus and 88th in the 2019 $500 The Big 50.

Williams Calls River Bluff

Niveau 30 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

From the big blind a player pushed for his remaining stack of 6,125,000, and Doug Williams was left with a tough decision for a large chunk of his stack.

He had the other player covered on a board of {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

"Count it," Williams told the dealer.

After the number was in, Williams called and they turned their hands over.

The big blind had been bluffing with {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

Williams' {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for top pair proved the better hand, with his opponent only having nine-high.

Both players congratulated each other on their play during the tournament, especially Williams to the eliminated player.

"If this is really your first tournament," Williams told him, "You're going to go far."
