2022 WSOP Player of the Week 3: Shaun Deeb Runs Deep in Three Championship Events

Very few in the poker world have the hustle during the World Series of Poker (WSOP) that Shaun Deeb has, which is why Deeb is the latest PokerNews WSOP Player of the Week.

At the halfway point in the series, Deeb has cashed 11 events for a total of $311,064 in earnings. Three of those cashes have been from deep runs in $10,000 buy-in championship events in just the past seven days.

On the tail end of a pot with some 50,000 in the middle to the {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Clubs} river, David Benyamine checked and Chris Fraser then flicked in a single T-25,000 chip for the bet. No call by Benyamine followed and the Brit flashed the {a-Spades} before raking in the pot.

Dan Cates bet on fifth street and was check-called by Nick Schulman who then proceeded to check-call another two streets. Cates flung his cards into the muck without saying a single word and the pot was awarded to Schulman.

"Four," said Gelencser as the cards came on fifth street, and he received a four.

"Wow! And he's betting into you!" said Eric Wasserson as Shaun Deeb bet. Gelencser folded and Wasserson called.

Deeb bet on sixth and seventh street and Wasserson called both times.

Deeb tabled {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for two pair and Wasserson showed {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

On the second draw Eli Elezra drew one and Lyle Berman stood pat. Elezra checked and Berman bet.

"You drew two on the first draw right," said Elezra, with Berman nodding. Elezra called.

Both players stood pat. Elezra check-called another bet.

"I've got a good hand," said Elezra, but he couldn't match the {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} that Berman showed.

Deeb and Shulman Joins Cates' Table

"Where did you get the outfit?" Freddy Deeb asked Dan Cates. Both Deeb and Nick Schulman were new entries after the break and both sat down at Cates' table.

"I always had this outfit," said Cates, still imitating Randy 'Macho Man' Savage. "This outfit is part of who I am."

"Oh," said Deeb. "You lost your voice too?"
