Winter Wins a Big One Early

Niveau 26 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Blinds: 3,000/6,000

The matchup between Christoph Vogelsang and Sean Winter got started shortly after 6 p.m. and the two got involved in a big pot in the first level. Vogelsang raised to 15,000 on the button and Winter called.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {6-Diamonds} on the turn. Winter made a large bet of 45,000 and Vogelsang called to see the {k-Spades} on the river.

Winter sized up another huge bet, making it 275,000 this time. Vogelsang took his time before making the call and Winter showed {k-Clubs}{8-Spades} for two pair to take an early lead.

Sammartino Hits River Flush, Opens Gap vs. Kornuth

Niveau 26 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Chance Kornuth opened to 15,000 and was raised to 60,000 by Dario Sammartino. Kornuth called and the duo went to the flop.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Sammartino put out a one-third pot-sized bet of 40,000. Kornuth called.

The {7-Hearts} arrived on the turn and Sammartino put out 150,000 chips, equivalent to 75% of the pot. Kornuth called once more.

The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and the Italian put out a bet of 400,000, leaving him with just 260,000 behind.

After about 90 seconds of contemplation, Kornuth called and nearly turned over his cards when Sammartino tabled {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}.

Kornuth threw his hand into the muck as Sammartino scooped the massive 1,300,000 chip pot.

Same Flop, Same Winner

Niveau 25 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Chance Kornuth opened to 15,000 on the button and Dario Sammartino called. The flop came {q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Sammartino checked to Kornuth who continued for 10,000. Sammartino check-raised to 40,000 only to have Kornuth make it 90,000. Sammartino folded and Kornuth raked in the pot.

On the next hand, Sammartino raised to 13,000 and Kornuth called. Once again, the flop fell {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Kornuth checked. Sammartino bet 10,000 and Kornuth check-raised to 32,000 which Sammartino called.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and both players checked to the {a-Clubs} on the river. Two more checks and Kornuth tabled {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for two pair to win another pot.

Round 4 - Blinds: 6,000/12,000

Dylan Destefano was down to just 110,000, less than 10 big blinds to start the hand. Kevin Rabichow announced all in on the button and Destefano called it off.

Dylan Destefano: {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Kevin Rabichow: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The flop fell {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} which provided no help to Destefano. The {3-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and the {7-Spades} on the river brought a quick end to the match, sending Rabichow into the semifinals tomorrow.

Round 4 - Blinds: 5,000/10,000

Dylan DeStefano raised to 25,000 and Kevin Rabichow called.

The dealer spread the {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Rabichow check-called for 40,000.

On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Rabichow check-raised a bet of 100,000 up to 335,000. DeStefano called.

The {2-Clubs} completed the board, Rabichow checked, DeStefano moved all in, and Rabichow quickly called for his 735,000 chips.

DeStefano tabled {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for trips, but it was no good against the {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} straight, and Rabichow scooped the massive pot and a huge chip lead.

Christoph Vogelsang has won his all-German affair against Koray Aldemir and will face Sean Winter in the quarterfinals.

Aldemir had four big blinds behind when Vogelsang shoved. Aldemir put his final 200,000 chips in the middle with {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Vogelsang turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop was little help for the defending WSOP Main Event Champion but he picked up a gutshot straight draw when the {4-Hearts} came on the turn.

The {4-Spades} sealed his fate, giving Vogelsang the win.
