$1,000 Super Turbo Kicks Off at 11 A.M. PDT

Welcome to Event #88 $1,000 Super Turbo No Limit Hold'em, which begins at 11 a.m. local time inside Bally's and Paris, Las Vegas.

With the 2022 World Series of Poker nearing its conclusion, just a few events remain where players can achieve their hopes and dreams of WSOP glory.

In 2021, it was Michael McCauley who secured a bracelet late on in the series, after he took down last year's super turbo tournament. He collected the $161,384 up top and his maiden piece of WSOP hardware after being the last player standing from the 1,025-player field.

The plan today is to play until a winner is crowned. Players begin the day with a 20,000 starting stack and will need to use that to navigate the 20-minute levels. Should a player lose all their chips, they're permitted one reentry in the late registration period.

Players have 12 levels of late legistration, which should close aroind 3:40 p.m. There will also be a 20-minute break every six levels and the dinner break is scheduled for 8 p.m., which marks the end of Level 21.

Don't Ask, Don't Hit

Niveau 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Will Kassouf moved all in for his last 4,800 from early position and was called by a player in the small blind.

Kassouf was in rough shape, likely needing to hit a jack to survive. No help came on the flop or turn, leaving Kassouf calling for a jack on the river. He got what he asked for after the founds it way onto the felt, handing Kassouf a full double. "You don't ask, you don't hit" he said as he stacked his newly acquired chips.

De Silva Gets Paid

Niveau 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Upeshka De Silva opened to 2,400 from middle position and was called by the big blind.

The big blind led out for 2,400 on the flop and De Silva called.

Both players checked through the turn to the river where the big blind once again checked. De Silva fired off 15,000 and the big blind snapped it off but mucked when De Silva turned over for the rivered two pair.

Yu Eliminates Peters

Niveau 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

David Peters in the cutoff found himself all in and at risk against Ben Yu in the big blind.

Peters was behind but did have two live cards. He fell far behind on the flop though the turn, while improving Yu to the nut flush, did leave Peters drawing live to kings and jacks. He was unable to improve, however, on the river, sending him to the rail.

Shortly after the conclusion of the hand, Peters was spotted in the late registration line, suggesting he has opted to re-enter the tournament.

Rockets Send Psallidas To The Top

Niveau 14 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Constantinos Psallidas in the cutoff found himself involved in a three-way all in with a player in middle position as well as the small blind.

Psallidas was in great shape to take down a huge pot, with his chances only getting better following the flop. Matters wrapped up early on the turn with the middle position player already vacating the tournament area prior to the river. The small blind survived, though he did take a big hit to his stack.

Sammartino Doubles Up

Niveau 15 : Blinds 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

A player in middle position opened to 15,000 and Dario Sammartino made the call out of the small blind to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

Action checked through the flop to the turn where Sammartino took over the betting lead, pushing 15,000 into the middle. His opponent made the call.

Sammartino moved all in after the river and, without much hesitation, the middle position player called. Sammartino turned over , prompting his opponent to muck his cards.

Sylvia Busts Opponent

Niveau 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

A player moved all in from under the gun and Jesse Sylvia called in the cutoff. The remaining players got out of the way to put the under the gun player at risk.

The at risk player was in terrible shape, needing something close to a miracle to survive. No help was forthcoming on the runout, sending the under the gun player out of the tournament. Sylvia, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the big stacks in the room.

Yu Eliminated

Niveau 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Ben Yu moved all in from late position and a player in the small blind re-jammed to put Yu at risk.

Yu was behind and would need help to survive. None came on the flop or turn. The river sealed his fate as he headed to the payout desk just prior to the dinner break.

Huy Nguyen jammed from the button with Esther Taylor covered in the big blind.

Taylor checked her hand and happily called off her last 400,000 chips.

Taylor had her opponent dominated, but after the flop gave Nguyen a backdoor flush draw, that draw came in with running to eliminate Taylor.

Brar On Fire

Niveau 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Jaspal Brar opened to 60,000 on the button and Francisco Benitez defended out of the big blind.

Benitez checked on a flop of and then called when Brar continued for 30,000.

Action checked through the turn to the river where action again went check-check. Brar showed down , good enough to scoop the pot.

The very next hand a player in early position opened to 350,000, leaving himself just 40,000 behind. Brar in the cutoff re-shoved only to see the button player call off. The blinds got out of the way and the initial raiser made the call to setup a three-way all in.

The early position player and the button were essentially involved in a flip with Brar needing a lot of help to win the pot. The flop immediately propelled the early position player into a huge lead with nothing changing on the turn. Brar found a miracle, however, nailing the on the river to take down an enormous, in the process eliminating both of his opponents.
