Garrett Survives

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

As retold by the table:

Dylan Hortin raised to 2,200 under the gun before a player three-bet to 7,000. The action folded around to B.W Garrett in the small blind and he made the call. Hortin four-bet to 20,500 and the player next to act jammed for 193,700. Garrett called off his stack of about 35,000 and Hortin folded, telling the table he mucked pocket queens.

B.W Garrett: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Opponent: {a-}{9-}

Garrett was slightly behind but the board ran out {k-}{7-}{2-}{8-}{3-} giving him a pair of kings to double through his opponent.

Katz Picks Up Aces

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Cary Katz found his last 54,100 in the middle before the flop, but he was at little risk as he turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} against his opponent's {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

The board ran out {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Katz secured the double up.

"Nothing you could do," Katz consoled his opponent.

"Would've been a pretty tight fold," he replied.

Schindler and Bonomo Battle in the Blinds, Both on the Rise

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded around to Jake Schindler in the small blind who just limped in. Justin Bonomo checked his option in the big blind and the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Schindler led out with a bet of 1,000 and Bonomo called to see the {6-Hearts} on the turn. Schindler checked this time and Bonomo threw in a bet of 3,500. Schindler called and the {10-Hearts} completed the board.

Schindler checked again and Bonomo quickly checked it back this time. Schindler showed {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes but Bonomo tabled {j-Spades}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights. Both players came into the day with around a starting stack but have been chipping up through the first couple of levels.

Cowboys Don't Love Chop Pots

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

A player in late position opened to 2,300 and was called by the button as well as the small blind. Erik Seidel then three-bet to 9,000 out of the big blind, eliciting quick folds from the initial raiser as well as the button but receiving a call from the small blind to generate heads-up action heading to the flop.

The small blind checked and then called continuation of 6,600 from Seidel on the {10-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop.

Both players checked through the {4-Spades} turn to see the {q-Spades} river, at which point the small blind checked for a third time. Seidel, unwilling to go to a cheap showdown, fired off 15,000, which his opponent promptly called. The small blind flipped over {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for flopped broadway while Seidel revealed he had been saved by the river, holding {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}. It was hard to tell who was less satisfied with the outcome, given that Seidel had been handed a perfect squeeze opportunity with a hand at the very top of his range while his opponent had flopped the joint only to have to endure a tough runout.

Abernathy Doubles With Broadway Against Wimmer

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

Sam Abernathy raised the cutoff to 2,200 and Raphael Wimmer three-bet to 7,600 from the small blind.

Abernathy called and the flop brought {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Wimmer led for 4,000 and Abernathy called.

The turn was the {q-Hearts} and Wimmer sized up to 15,000. Abernathy moved all in and Wimmer quickly called.

Sam Abernathy: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Raphael Wimmer: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Abernathy held a straight, with a flush draw to boot. Wimmer had a set of kings and was looking for a board pair.

The {j-Hearts} fell on the river and Abernathy got a full double, while Wimmer was left with just 10,000.
