Docherty Takes One Down

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

David Docherty raised to 2,600 in early position and found a caller from the cutoff and Jimmy D'Ambrosio in the big blind. The flop came down {a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and all three checked.

The turn was a {10-Hearts} and D'Ambrosio fired out 3,900 and received a call from Docherty while the cutoff folded.

An {8-Hearts} on the river had D'Ambrosio checking to Docherty who bet 9,000. D'Ambrosio called and mucked his cards after seeing Doherty's {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a pair of aces, queen kicker.

Williams Scores a Double

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

As told to PokerNews, David Williams was left grinding a stack of around 25,000 chips for most of the day. However, he finally picked up a hand from under the gun and raised to 2,500. Williams was called by the button and Cole Ferraro in the big blind.

The flop came {10-}{8-}{3-Spades} and the action checked around to the {a-} on the turn. Williams led out with a bet of 4,000 on the turn and the button ripped all in. Ferraro quickly folded and Williams called off his stack.

Williams turned over {a-}{k-} and had his opponent in trouble with {a-}{q-Clubs}. The river was a brick and Williams doubled up to nearly a starting stack.

Catela Takes a Pot But is Still Unhappy

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jose Catela called a pre-flop re-raise of 7,800 from under the gun as he and his opponent saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Both players checked, then checked again on the {q-Spades} turn.

The river came the {6-Diamonds} and Catela led out for 26,000. His opponent quickly called as Catela showed {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for the flopped full house. The original raiser turned over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and flashed a smile, relieved he had lost so little in the pot.

"I was going to check," Catela said, rueing the chips he failed to win.

"Why are you upset. You won the pot," tablemate Ludovic Geilich said.

Brazilian star Rafael Moraes has also been moved to this table.

King High Good For Schindler

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jake Schindler
Jake Schindler

A player in the cutoff opened to 2,400 and was called by Jake Schindler on the button as well as the big blind.

The big blind checked on the {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop and the cutoff continued for 3,300. Schindler made the call while the big blind folded to create heads-up action heading to the turn.

The {10-Hearts} turn paired the board, which did not dissuade the cutoff, who bet out 5,200. Again, Schindler just called.

Both players checked through the {5-Hearts} river and the cutoff showed down {4-Spades}{3-Spades} for the missed flush draw while Schindler tabled {k-Spades}{7-Spades}. The cutoff player was visibly frustrated, knowing that a third barrel would likely have gotten the job done. Schindler, meanwhile, chipped up, continuing what has up to this point been a successful WSOP for him.

Perfect River Card for Popa to Get it All

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Rafael Fernandez raised to 3,700 in early position and John Popa came along in the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Popa check-called a bet of 7,500.

The {j-Clubs} hit the turn and Popa checked again before Fernandez splashed a bet of 17,500 across the line. Popa didn't waste much time before making the call.

When the {7-Clubs} landed on the river, Popa checked for a final time and Fernandez announced all in.

"Beg your pardon?" Popa asked, making sure he heard correctly. "I call."

Fernandez tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a full house on the river and Popa stared at it while saying, "You have a full house? So do I," before tabling {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} turning the top full house. The dealer counted out Popa's stack of 77,700 and pulled in the chips from Fernandez.

Peters' Main Event Comes to an End

Niveau 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

After arriving at the table, Donnie Peters was seen all in for his tournament life for 24,800 from the small blind. Anthony Uhlir was in the big blind and already had 5,200 chips committed before calling off the rest.

Donnie Peters: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Anthony Uhlir: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Peters was still in the lead with his ace-high. Despite being in a dominating position, Peters got unlucky on the {8-Diamonds} turn card. The {q-Hearts} on the river was no help to Peters who exited from the Main Event.
