Holmes Flops Strong From the Big Blind, Holds On

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
George Holmes
George Holmes

Action started on the turn in a heads-up pot. George Holmes was playing from the big blind against the player on the button.

With a board reading {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Holmes led into the button player for 12,000. The player made the call in position.

The scary and connecting {7-Clubs} landed on the turn, bringing in the front-door flush and putting a four-liner to a straight on the board.

Holmes checked, his opponent bet 23,000. Holmes thought for about 20 seconds and put in the call.

The button shook his head and revealed {q-Hearts}{9-Spades} for top pair, but Holmes showed {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for flopped two pair to take down the pot.

Pierre Calamusa raised it up from under the gun and Jordan Banfield three-bet on the button. The blinds folded and Calamusa called to see a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Calamusa checked to Banfield who continued for 3,000 and Calamusa called. The turn brought the {j-Hearts} and both players checked to the {3-Spades} on the river.

Calamusa fired out a bet of 10,000 this time and Banfield looked him up. Calamusa showed {k-}{q-} for just king-high while Banfield tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} to collect the pot.

Teusl Stays Alive Via Chop

Niveau 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The flop read {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Jessica Teusl moved all in from the big blind for 7,500 into a pot of about the same amount close to 8,000.

Alexandre Amiel called in the hijack. Paul Snead was on the button and thought a bit before raising to 35,000. Amiel reluctantly gave it up.

Snead had flopped the goods as he tabled the {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} straight. Teusl was on the verge of elimination with the {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The turn was the {q-Clubs} and the river saved the 2022 WSOP Ladies Event champion as the {10-Spades} came off to give both players identical straight and therefore chop the pot.

Hachem Hits the Rail as Sena-Hopkins Chips Up

Niveau 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem

Joe Hachem couldn't get anything going in the first level, he found himself with about 5,000 left. He moved all in preflop and found a lone caller in Nicholas Sena-Hopkins.

Nicholas Sena-Hopkins: {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Joe Hachem: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

With his clubs dominated, Hachem would need to improve to keep his tournament hopes alive this year. Unfortunately for him, the board showed up with two aces and Sena-Hopkins took down the pot to send the former champ home.
