Sewnig Eliminated by Hannawa

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

In a typical preflop all-in contest, a classic race unfolded between two players with near even stack sizes as Daniel Sewnig was up against Danny Hannawa.

Daniel Sewnig: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Danny Hannawa: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop kept Sewnig in the lead but Hannawa improved on the {k-Diamonds} turn, then held on the blank {7-Hearts} river. Both stacks were counted and Sewnig's 2.7 million was covered by just over one big blind.

Miller Snaps Off Jorstad

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Espen Jorstad raised to 210,000 from under the gun and received a call from Jordyn Miller in middle position.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop before Jorstad bet out 225,000 on the {3-Spades} turn.

Miller called as they saw the {j-Spades} on the river. Jorstad bet another 200,000 and Miller quickly threw in a call.

Jorstad showed {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, but Miller had him beat with {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} to take the pot.

Ruff Suffers Rough Runout

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Igor Ioffe moved all in from middle position and Stuart Ruff from the cutoff called with the shorter stack to put his tournament life on the line.

Stuart Ruff: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Igor Ioffe: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}

Ruff was significantly ahead and remained so after the {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and {9-Hearts} turn. The {6-Hearts} river, however, was a dagger to Ruff, dealing a death blow to his hopes of main event glory.

Souki Picks Up Rockets to Bust Mota

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Rafael Mota was all in for around 2,000,000 and up against Philippe Souki.

Rafael Mota: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Philippe Souki: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop gave Mota a pair of queens and the {j-Spades} turn outs to a chop, but the {k-Hearts} on the river sealed his elimination.

"Nice call. That's not what you wanted to see, face cards on the board," a tablemate told Souki as he stacked up nearly 10,000,000.

Abdel Rahim Stares Quads in the Face

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Muhammad Abdel Rahim
Muhammad Abdel Rahim

Muhammad Abdel Rahim opened to 250,000 and Pierre De Almeida three-bet to 575,000. The action was back on Abdel Rahim who shipped all in for around 1,500,000 and De Almeida quickly called.

Muhammad Abdel Rahim: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Pierre De Almeida: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Spades} and De Almeida flopped quads to already lock up the hand. Abdel Rahim was drawing dead as he watched the {7-Spades} and {2-Clubs} runout before exiting the tournament.

Cavelier Eliminated by Rokita

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Ten minutes into the last break, Matteo Cavelier had tank-folded against a shove by Jeffrey Farnes on a king-high board and returned with around 37 big blinds for the new level. He then got these in just now against Roland Rokita while Kristopher Tong got out of the way.

Matteo Cavelier: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Roland Rokita: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The dominated pair found no help on the {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Spades} board while Tong mentioned he would have flopped a set. Cavelier's 3.2 million were pushed over to his table neighbour as Rokita chipped up further.

Mermelstein Busts Bithell to Take Chip Lead

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Aaron Mermelstein
Aaron Mermelstein

George Turner opened to 200,000 in the cutoff and Oliver Bithell moved all in for what looked to be 2,235,000 on the button. Aaron Mermelstein took some time to deliberate in the big blind as the cameras surrounded the table, and eventually called, while Turner folded.

Oliver Bithell: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Aaron Mermelstein: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Bithell was in rough shape as the dealer fanned the {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, and the {5-Spades} turn left him drawing dead to the {6-Spades} river, while Mermelstein moved into the chip lead.

Paddock Eliminated by Farnes

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Down to the last 775,000, Robert Paddock was all-in before the flop with the {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. He was up against the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} of Jeffrey Farnes and despite finding the {a-Clubs} in the window, it was all but over as the {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} followed right after.

It was then officially game over for Paddock on the {7-Hearts} turn which made the {4-Spades} river a formality.

Funaro Takes the Rest From Livshitz

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Soon after losing the flip to Serge Chechin, Gabi Livshitz was moved to Oliver Weis' old seat and found himself all in for around 1,600,000 from the small blind and up against Frank Funaro.

Gabi Livshitz: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Frank Funaro: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

Livshitz came out on the wrong end of another race situation as the board ran out {3-Hearts}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, sending him to the rail.

"That's not the seat you want to be in," Karim Rebei said after the hand.

Nunley Ousts Steel

Niveau 27 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
William Nunley
William Nunley

Action folded to Jeremy Steel in the small blind who moved all in for his last 700,000. William Nunley in the big blind gave it some thought but did end up making the call to put Steel at risk.

Jeremy Steel: {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}
William Nunley: {k-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Nunley was marginally ahead and remained so following the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. The {k-Clubs} turn wrapped up matters early as Steel stood to make his exit before the inconsequential {8-Diamonds} rolled off on the river.
