Setna Collects from Diaz

Niveau 34 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

As most of the tournament went on a 20-minute break, David Diaz and Jimmy Setna were just getting started in a hand. Diaz opened to 1,000,000 in early position and Setna three-bet to 3,500,000 out of the big blind. Diaz called and they went heads-up to a flop of {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Setna led out with a bet of 2,700,000 and Diaz stuck around to see the {k-Hearts} on the turn. Setna stuck in another bet of 6,500,000 on the turn and Diaz went into the tank for a couple of minutes before finally mucking his cards.

Rebei and Eames Tussle Again

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

In a limped battle of the blinds, Karim Rebei bet the {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop for 600,000 to get called by John Eames. Rebei also bet the {4-Hearts} turn for 625,000 and Eames raised it up to 2,100,000 for Rebei to call. The {k-Diamonds} on the river was checked by Rebei, which triggered a near pot-sized bet worth 6,600,000 by Eames.

Rebei folded and exposed a {q-Clubs} in the process as Eames nearly closed the gap on the leaderboard for the main feature table.

Robert Welch

Philippe Souki raised to 1,300,000 under the gun and was called by Jeffrey Farnes in the cutoff.

Robert Welch then moved all in from the big blind for 7,600,000.

Both his opponents folded and Welch picked up a nice little pot without showdown as his squeeze brought some health to his stack.

Conniff Chips Up Against Duek

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Michael Duek made it 1,300,000 to go and was called by Asher Conniff in the big blind, which led them to the {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop. Conniff opted to check-call a bet worth 1,000,000 and then did so again fopr 3,200,000 on the {4-Diamonds} turn. Both checked the {q-Spades} on the river and the birthday rail of Conniff went wild when his {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} won the pot.

Rozin Doubles with Ducks

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Vadim Rozin
Vadim Rozin

Vadim Rozin jammed for 9,350,000 on the button and Tom Kunze isolated in the small blind.

Vadim Rozin: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Tom Kunze: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

Rozin was looking for a big hold with his pocket deuces, and the {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop was a safe one for the Canadian. The {8-Hearts} turn left him needing to avoid just an ace or king, and the {q-Spades} river brought paint, but kept Rozin ahead and secured his double.

Setna Keeps Climbing

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Jimmy Setna opened to 1,200,000 in early position and Philippe Souki called from the big blind. The flop came {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Souki check-called a bet of 1,100,000 from Setna.

The {3-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and Souki led out with a bet of 2,600,000. Setna called and the {9-Hearts} completed the board. Souki checked this time and Setna quickly checked it back. Souki appeared to show {k-}{4-} but Setna tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for the best hand.

Dobric Exerts Pressure

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Vadim Rozin opened to 1,200,000 from middle position and was three-bet to 5,000,000 by Matija Dobric out of the small blind. Rozin called to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Dobric continued for 1,100,000. Rozin was not yet prepared to release his hand and made the call.

The {8-Spades} turn saw Dobric bet enough to force his opponent all in. It did not take long for Rozin to release his hand and take a fairly sizable hit to his stack.

Aaron Mermelstein Eliminated in 20th Place ($323,100)

Niveau 35 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante
Aaron Mermelstein
Aaron Mermelstein

Aaron Mermelstein moved all in for 6,000,000 in the small blind and Adrian Attenborough called in the big blind.

Aaron Mermelstein: {8-Spades}{7-Spades}
Adrian Attenborough: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Mermelstein was a slight equity favorite, until the {q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop vaulted Attenborough way ahead with a set. The {4-Clubs} turn gave Mermelstein a bit of hope with a gutshot draw, but the {9-Diamonds} river eliminated him in 20th place, good for $323,100.
