The great game of PLO makes an appearance today with Day 1 of Event #13: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack at the 2023 World Series of Poker at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. Cards will be in the air at 10 a.m. local time

A large turnout is expected for the event, which last year attracted 2,858 entries and was eventually won by Konstantin “Angelov” Petrushev, who pocketed $199,466 for his efforts.

The opening day will see 22 levels of play, each lasting 30 minutes, with 12 levels of late registration. There will be a 20-minute break every four levels, with a 75-minute dinner break after level 16, somewhere around 7:00 p.m. At the end of the day’s proceedings the remaining players will bag up, before returning to do battle at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

The turn came 10 and was checked around. The river was the 2 and Russell decided to fire again, this time for 4,500. His two rivals folded and Russell turned over A256 for bottom pair.

A player in early position limped in and a player in middle position raised to 600. David Rees called in the small blind and the early position limper called as well.

Action was three-way on the 3J5 flop. Rees bet 2,000 and received only one call from the player in middle position.

Rees fired again on the 9 turn, this time for 6,000 and it was enough to force a fold from his opponent.

Rees is off to a good start with just over three times the starting stack before the end of level two.
