Reading Devastates Opponent’s Chip Stack

WSOP bracelet winner John Reading, who was on the button, was involved in a hand with a player in the small blind.

And the action on the river bloated the pot on a board showing 8♥2♥K♣J♠7♦.

The player in the small blind led out with 10,000, but Reading raised it to 20,500. The player in the small blind, who had 16,200 behind, went in the tank and took a little more than full minute to study the board. He then made the 10,600 call and saw Reading table 10♥9♥ for the nut straight.

Reading scooped the pot, while his opponent was left with just 5,600.

Three ways to the 10♥6♣5♥, the small blind, Ori Hasson and Fabrice Bigot checked to see the 9♣ on the turn. The small blind bet 2,000 and Hasson folded while Bigot called. That led to the 8♠ river on which both checked.

The small blind exposed A♥Q♥ and Bigot won the pot with the J♣10♣.

Benso Has Heaps Early On

Still full of adrenaline, Sergio Benso walked away from the table to get some fresh air and then recalled a "crazy hand with four players all-in". According to Benso, his Qx9x had flopped two pair on Q♦9♦5x and he was up against three opponents with A♦6♦, J♦5♦ and Q♠J♠ respectively.

The hand of Benso held as his stays certainly confirms, since he has moved into the lead very early in this tournament.

DeAlmeida Back At It

Fresh off a seventh-place finish in Event #11: $600 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack, Manuel "Manny" DeAlmeida didn’t waste time to engage in another tournament.

He found himself in heads-up action against a late position player and a growing pot after the flop, which showed 8♥4♦8♣. After checking the flop, his opponent bet 1,200, and then DeAlmeida check-raised to 3,500, which received a call.

The turn showed A♣, which prompted DeAlmeida to bet 2,500 and his opponent called. The river produced 7♣ and DeAlmeida bet 5,000 into his opponent, who took a few moments before calling.

“Trips,” DeAlmeida said as he tabled 9♦8♦.

His opponent mucked the hand and the pot was awarded to DeAlmeida.

Catela Gets a Shove Through Against Pecheux

With 11,100 in the middle to the A♣8♦4♥ flop, Jose Catela checked and Erwann Pecheux bet 2,000. Catela check-raised to 4,500 and Pecheux called. On the 5♠ turn, both players checked and Catela then jammed all-in for 22,000.

Pecheux tanked for three minutes before he asked for an exact count. Once that was done, he tanked another two minutes and Catela called the clock on him. He was given 20 seconds to act, which ran down without a decision as the hand was dead, awarding the pot to Catela.
