Arieh Has More Than Air, Barely

Niveau 20 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Three ways to a flop of J47, the big blind checked, Oleg Sobol bet 132,000, and Josh Arieh announced all in for just over 700,000. The big blind folded and Sobol made the call to which Arieh said, "I don't have much, just a draw."

Sobol responsed with, "Me neither, but I flopped something to draw to" and cards were on their backs.

Oleg Sobol: AK108
Josh Arieh: 9654

Arieh had a wrap and no hearts, while Sobol had a gutter to the nut straight and the flush draw. When the Q came on the turn Arieh said, "Shit...", as his opponent upgraded to the Broadway wrap.

When the board paired a J on the river Arieh yelled, "Four!" and wiggled his 4 at the dealer. He'd dodged the world and his pair of fours was good for a 1,650,000 chip pot. He yelled over to Daniel Negreanu at a different table to let him know that someone had won the pot with just a pair of fours and Negreanu said, "Lemme guess, it was you who won the pot?"

Sobol was left with his head spinning and was led the the payouts.

Lehoussine Makes a Full House to Triple

Niveau 20 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Josh Arieh raised to 35,000 and Todd Hatch called before Karim Lehoussine three-bet all in for 116,000. The action folded back to Arieh and he put in another raise to 212,000. Hatch called.

The dealer fanned a flop of 743 and Arieh bet the maximum. Hatch sighed as he said, "Why didn't I hit that flop?" and tossed his cards into the muck.

Karim Lehoussine: A944
Josh Arieh: QQ76

Lehoussine flopped a set of fours and the 3 turn and 10 river improved him to a full house to collect a triple up.

Ferro Gets There to Stay Alive

Niveau 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

After a preflop betting war, Jose Ferro moved all in and Rajaee Wazwaz made the call to put him at risk.

Jose Ferro: AQ108
Rajaee Wazwaz: AKK5

Wazwaz was ahead going in with his pocket kings and better clubs, but Ferro still had a lot of live cards with his hearts and straight cards.

The flop of AK9 gave neither player a flush but it did give Wazwaz middle set of kings to further increase his lead. However, the runout of 3J gave Ferro the gutshot straight on the river to win the pot for the double-up.

Ferro Cracks Aces

Niveau 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Jose Ferro and Rob Wazwaz were all in preflop with the former covered.

Jose Ferro: KJ109
Rob Wazwaz: AA74

The board ran KJ4 and Ferro pulled ahead of Wazwaz with top two. The turn was the 5, improving neither player. Wazwaz needed to either catch an ace or pair one the low cards on the board. That wasn't the case when the 7 fell on the river.

Ferro had found a double just a couple orbits earlier, yelling "Vamos!" when he scooped the pot. This was the first time he has eclipsed a million chips in this event.

Daniel Grassi: KJ109
Dave Terry: AA74

The flop of KJ8 smashed Grassi as he flopped two pair, straight draw and flush draw. The 5 turn and J river improved him to a full house as he raked in the pot.

Good Flop for Choe

Niveau 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

David Choe opened under the gun for 50,000 and was then raised to 155,000 by Robert Mizrachi to his left in early position. Choe made the call and the two went heads-up to a flop of 7KK.

Choe checked to Mizrachi who continued for 45,000 which Choe called to see the 4 appear on the turn. Another check-call from Choe, this time for 85,000.

When the river came the 7 and Choe checked for a third time, Mizrachi decided to pump the brakes and checked back, at which point Choe tabled K1098 for trip kings, ten kicker and Mizrachi promptly folded.
