Luis Concha and Scott Bohlman exchanged pot-sized preflop raises from the cutoff and button respectively until Bohlman's last 86,000 chips were in the middle.
Scott Bohlman: A♦10♥
Luis Concha: K♥K♦
The board came K♠3♦6♦7♥2♥, flopping Concha a set of kings, and then failing to bring Bohlman runners to either a flush or Broadway to save his tournament life.
Nick Pupillo reluctantly called a bet by James Johnson after the final draw and the cards were exposed. Johnson tabled the 5♦ / 10♥6♠4♦2♣ for a ten-ten and the 7♥7♠ / 5♥4♣2♠ of Pupillo was no good.
Both tangled again in the same variant shortly after but chopped it up. Pupillo remains the far bigger stack at the table while Johnson is in the middle of the pack.
Phil Hellmuth: 3♣2♣ / A♥2♦9♥5♣ / 9♠
Matthew Schultz: A♠8♣K♦9♦ / 7♣5♥4♣
Phil Hellmuth bet a favourable board against Matthew Schultz, who called from fifth and sixth street once Hellmuth had declared twice "'l'll take this one, you take the next one". He had 2,000 behind for seventh street and Schultz also called that, too. As the cards were eventually exposed, Hellmuth was certain to scoop as he revealed nines up with a nine-five low.
However, the other players at the table pointed out the superior eight-seven low of Schultz to win the low portion of the pot which left Hellmuth rather upset. He once more mentioned to be on tilt and then got it in soon after in the same variant against Nacho Barbero.
Again, Hellmuth was the aggressor and all-in after seventh street once more. Barbero showed his queens up and now Hellmuth had to squeeze the final card. "I have sixes in the hole," he revealed and showed those cards first.
Slowly peeling the last card, Hellmuth spiked an ace to survive with the superior eight-six low.
Picking action up on the river with 430,000 already built in the pot (215,000 each), and a board of 3♦5♥J♠Q♦2♥, Dominick sarle checked from the hijack to John Racener who bet 60,000.
Sarle looked frustrated as he tanked for over a minute before tossing his cards toward the muck to send a huge pot to racener just before break.
The last 23 players have been sent on a scheduled 15-minute break. Another two levels will be played before all those with chips at their disposal get to bag and tag them for the night.
Facing four-way action, Tomasz Gluszko was all in from the hijack for his last 30,000.
On the first draw, Ryan Roeder drew two in the small blind, as did Andrew Kelsall under the gun and David Levi in the cutoff.
Roeder then bet and got calls from both remaining opponents with chips. He then patted while Kelsall, Gluszko, and Levi each drew two.
Roeder bet again which now shed Kelsall, but Levi stuck around with a call.
Roeder patted again, while Gluszko took one and Levi patted. Roeder continued betting and Levi called a final time to see Roeder show 7♦6♠4♣3♣2♥ for an outstanding hand of a seven low and a seven-four-three-two Badugi.
Neither opponent could beat it and the huge pot went to Roeder, while Gluszko went to the payout desk.
Paresh Doshi check-called a bet by Nick Kost on the 7♥5♥3♠ in a three-bet pot before both then checked down the K♦ turn and 2♥ river. Doshi tabled the A♦8♣6♥3♣ and scooped as Kost only flashed an AxJx2x.
Soon after, Kost raised and Chad Eveslage defended the big blind, then check-raised the A♦Q♦8♠ flop for Kost to call-in for 41,000 total.
Nick Kost: A♦6♥5♦3♣
Chad Eveslage: Q♠J♣9♦7♣
Kost asked for low cards and received them with the A♣ turn and A♠ river.
Three ways to the A♥J♥3♠7♦ turn, Andrew Brown bet the pot for 180,000 out of the small blind. Luis Concha folded in the cutoff before James Johnson got it in from the button for Brown to call.
James Johnson: A♣10♦7♥4♣2♦
Andrew Brown: A♦K♦9♦4♠2♣
The river was a blank as Johnson's nut low with aces and sevens earned three quarters of the pot for his stack of 427,000.
