Mercier Still Dragging Pots

Niveau 8 : Blinds 800/1,600, 2,400 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Brian Rast raised to 3,600 from late position and got called by Jason Mercier on the button and Cary Katz in the big blind as all three headed to the draw.

Katz took one with Rast and Mercier doing the same.

All three players checked through to showdown with Katz showing J9832. Rast quickly said, "I've got a jack-eight" only to immediately hear Mercier say, "I can beat that" before turning over 109643 to win the pot.

Mercier is literally only a few hours removed from winning his sixth bracelet in the $1,500 buy-in of this exact game variant and won this very event in 2016, so it's safe to say that he is well-equipped and prepared to make a deep run here.

Mercier Building A Stack Fast

Niveau 8 : Blinds 800/1,600, 2,400 ante

Jason Mercier raised from late position to 3,200 and the player in the cutoff called.

Shawn Sheikhan three-bet from the big blind to 10,500 and both Mercier and the cutoff player put in calling chips to get to the draw.

Sheikhan stood pat as did Mercier with the cutoff player taking one.

Action checked through to showdown and Mercier turned over 108743 for a ten-eight low which was good enough to take the pot down as both of his opponents quickly mucked.

Liu took one, prompting Dzivielevski to stand pat, showing down Jx10x9x7x5x. Liu, meanwhile, held 10x6x4x3x but failed to best Dzivielevski's hand after peeling the Qx to send him out of the tournament late in the day.

Brian Yoon
Brian Yoon

Brian Yoon raised to 5,000 from late position only to see Eric Kurtzman jam for close to 25,000 from the button.

Yoon called which got a, "I was hoping you'd fold!" from Kurtzman before Yoon drew one and Kurtzman took two.

After the draw, Yoon had 96532 but Kurtzman was still drawing live. Unfortunately for him, the two cards he drew were the 10 and the 10, sending the pot to Yoon and Kurtzman to the rail.
