Peters Gets a Knockout

Niveau 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

David Peters opened to 50,000 and then called after a player in the big blind moved all in.

Big Blind Player: 1010
David Peters: QJ

It was a coinflip but one that Peters won after the board ran out 46QA9 to send his opponent to the payout desk.

Elsewhere, Ari Engel, Daniel Smiljkovic, Anatoly Filatov and Jon van Fleet were seen heading to the exits.

Zobian Sends Matakis Out

Niveau 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Ian Matakis moved all in for his last 30,000 from middle position and Aram Zobian raised in the cutoff. A player in the big blind moved their entire stack into the middle with Zobian snapping it off to put both of his opponents at risk.

Ian Matakis: 99
Big Blind Player: KJ
Aram Zobian: AA

Zobian had both of his opponents crushed and remained ahead on the 22J flop. The J turn, however, vaulted the big blind into the lead but it did not last long as the A river completed the board to hand the entire pot to Zobian and send the presumptive 2023 WSOP POY out just inside the money.

The Bubble has Burst

Niveau 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Matthew McEwan moved all in for 200,000 and was called by Rania Nasreddine who covered him.

Matthew McEwan: AQ
Rania Nasreddine: KK

McEwan was in bad shape against Nasreddine's pocket kings and failed to improve on the 2469J run out. McEwan was the unfortunate soul who burst the bubble while Nasreddine collected a decent pot.

Break Time

Niveau 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

The remaining 125 players have been sent on their final 15-minute break of the night. They will return to blinds of 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. With 122 spots getting paid, bubble play is set to commence shortly after the break.

The State of the Bubble

Niveau 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

Niall Farrell went all in from late position and the small blind lamented being just a few people away from the bubble. The small blind hemmed and hawed, leaned back and looked at the clock, looked back at their hand multiple times, and finally someone out of the hand called the clock.

After the countdown, their hand was declared dead and action moved to Nick Pupillo. Before Pupillo in the big blind made his decision, the small blind let it slip that they folded jacks, or so they said.

Pupillo took some time deciding and told Farrell that they thought the best hand and, "ICM is dumb..." Farrell made mention that they would bet on his hand, then backpedaled and said perhaps they had the same hand.

Pupillo, who has three top three finishes this summer and one outright win, ultimately said, "I'm playing to win this thing." and made the call, Farrell was in bad shape.

Nick Pupillo: A8
Niall Farrell: 89

The flop rolled out with a nine and Pupillo found no help on the turn on the river, taking a bad beat on his way out.
