First Draw Event of the 2024 WSOP Shuffles Up and Deals Today

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #22: $1,500 Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. This is a three-day event, with Day 1 starting at 2 p.m. local time. Late registration remains open until the end of the ninth 40-minute level. The plan is to play 15 levels, with a 15-minute break every three levels.

Players begin with 25,000 chips and Level 1 limits are 200-400. Day 1 survivors return to their seats at 1 p.m. local time on June 7 and play another ten levels, which extend to 60 minutes. Day 3 is scheduled for June 8, although its start time is yet to be decided.

John Monnette is the reigning champion of this event, having overcome 521 opponents in 2023, a result good for $145,863 and what was Monnette's fifth gold bracelet. Expect a star-studded field for this specialist event.

Aronowitz On an Early Hot Streak

Aronowitz took one, while his opponent drew two. "That's why I raised," Aronowitz said as he bet. His opponent called and both players drew one and checked.

Both players again drew one and Aronowitz bet. His opponent called with a 9-7, but Aronowitz had 8-7-5-4-3 to win the pot.

The next hand, an opponent in the big blind bet the second draw and Aronowitz raised. His opponent called, as did another player on the button and Aronowitz patted. His two opponents each drew one and called when Aronowitz bet.

Aronowitz turned over 7-6-5-3-2 as he took another early pot.

"It's too early for this shit. Who wants a hot streak in Level 1?" Aronowitz said.

Baxter Gets Seiver to Break the Winner

Scott Seiver bet from under the gun on the first draw and a player in the cutoff called. Billy Baxter then raised in the small blind and both players called.

Baxter stood pat and bet, while Seiver and the cutoff both drew one and called.

Baxter patted again and both opponents took one. Action was checked down and Baxter turned over a 9-6-5.

"Ah, you got me to break the winner," Seiver said as he mucked as Baxter, who has six WSOP bracelets in lowball events, took the pot.

Krescanko Busts One in Massive Four-Way Pot

After a series of raises before the first draw, Mike Krescanko Sr., Michael Rodrigues, and a player under the gun each took two while the big blind drew one.

The under-the-gun player then bet, Rodrigues raised, Krescanko and the big blind called, but the initial better reraised. All three opponents called.

Everyone except Rodrigues drew one on the second draw, while Rodrigues stood pat. The under-the-gun player bet again, Rodrigues raised again, and all three players called with the under-the-gun player putting in his last chips.

"Pair them up," the under-the-gun player said as the blinds took one, while Rodrigues also took one. Krescanko then led out and the big blind called, while Rodrigues folded.

Krescanko showed 8-7-5-4-2 and the under-the-gun player flashed a 10 before mucking as he headed for the rail.
