Day 3 of Event #49: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em of the 2024 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas will start up at noon with 13 players left who are fighting for the $523,195 grand prize out of the large $3,342,840 prize pool.

All of the returning players except for one are aiming for their first bracelet, lead by Ben Hoy. He is having a remarkable run as his poker resume is not very full yet, with his largest cash prior to this being for just over $7,000 in an online event. This is a huge way for him to make his first big splash on the poker scene as he starts the day in pole position.

Action started with an open jam from Jonathan Schwartz, who was under the gun with the shortest stack at the table, 1,250,000. His hand was KQ.

Action folded to David Stamm in the small blind, who re-raised all in for 6,600,000 with AK. Last to act was Erlend Melsom, who found AJ in the big blind. He decided that the spot was too good not to take and put in the call for 6,200,000.

The flop was great for Melsom and bad for the at-risk players, the J87. The turn, however, brought a card for Schwartz, the Q. The river 5 gave Schwartz the triple-up, but meant the elimination of David Stamm.
