Mystery Millions Reaches Day 2; Jesse Rockowitz Bags Big on Day 1D

Event 5: $1,000 Mystery Millions has completed all four of its flights, and 393 survivors from a colossal field of 7,609 remain. The unofficial attendance for this remarkable event is 18,418, with the WSOP confirming the exact number and the prize pool at the start of Day 2.

PokerNews coverage of this event begins on Day 2 and we cannot wait to get started. Expect plenty of fireworks on Day 2, Monday, June 3, because there are many short stacks. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, June 4, so there needs to be frequent eliminations across both remaining days to get to that stage.

Adrian Puccio bagged up the Day 1d chip lead, finishing the night with 3,360,000 chips, the only Day 1d player to accumulate more than three million chips. Jesse Rockowitz is second in the flight's chip counts with 2,600,000. Rockowitz won a bracelet in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event in 2010 and finished third in last year's Monster Stack for $541,376, so he knows how to navigate his way around large fields.

Others in the top ten include $25K Fantasy Draft picks Dong Chen (2,215,000) and Adam Hendrix (2,060,000), while fellow draftees Scott Ball (1,745,000) and Justin Liberto (1,685,000) are inside the top 20.

Day 2 shuffles up and deals at 11 a.m. local time on June 3 in Paris Las Vegas. The aim is to play 17 levels of 40 minutes or until only five players remain, whichever happens first.

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the Day 1d of Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions No-Limit Hold'em here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. Live coverage of this event will start from Day 2.

This event has been on everyone's radar since the schedule was released, with the top bounty as well as the first-place prize guaranteed to be $1,000,000.

The last of four starting flights gets underway at 10 a.m. local time today, with late registration open for 12 levels. There will be 20-minute breaks every four levels, with a 75-minute dinner break at the end of Level 16 (~7 p.m.).

The starting stack is 40,000 chips, with the plan for Day 1d to play 22 30-minute levels. Payouts start on Day 1, and for the surviving players, Day 2 resumes on Monday, June 3, at 11 a.m.

Last year's event saw a field of 18,188 players generate a prize pool of $4,587,950. The winner was Tyler Brown who defeated Guang Chen heads-up to win a cool $1,000,000.

“I took almost two years off poker," Brown told PokerNews. "I decided to come back at the end of last year, early this year, and it’s been unbelievable in these last six months.”

The event also saw two $1,000,000 bounties up for grabs, with Shant Marashlian the first player to pull the grand prize bounty early on Day 2. He was followed by Patrick Liang shortly after.

Day 1a saw 2,246 players gather in the tournament area, with only 118 having chips to bag and tag at the close of play. Pete Chen performed the best, turning his 40,000 starting stack into a tournament-leading 3,150,000.

The second starting flight of the event was even bigger than the first, with 3,272 recorded to bring the overall total to 5,519 entries. From Day 1b, just 171 bagged and tagged a stack, with Bradley Coultas (2,730,000) ending proceedings with the biggest stack.

The third flight, Day 1c, gave us a new chip leader, Antonio Galiana (3,230,000) as well as nearly doubling the field to 10,809 players.

The prize pool is now up to $4,665,460, a number that will increase yet again today.

Day 1d starts at 10 a.m. local time today. Day 2 will be on Monday, June 3, and will commence at 11 a.m. local time. PokerNews traditional coverage of this event will start on Day 2.
