It was small blind versus big blind on a flop of A♦9♣3♠ and the small blind bet 8,000. Geoff Gault put in a stack of pinks which would be more than all in for the small blind. The small blind called for 20,000.
Small Blind: A♥7♣
Geoff Gault: A♣3♣
The turn 10♥ and the river 4♦ allowed Gault to secure his win with two pair.
Action was caught after the flop of J♣9♣5♥ and James Freitag from the middle position was quick to check. His opponent in the late position fired for 12,000. Freitag made the call.
The turn was the 5♠ and Freitag again checked to his opponent. They continued for 15,000 and Freitag made the call.
While the river peeled the 8♥, both players were quick to check.
Yucel Eminoglu was in early position with a limper under the gun and he put in a raise to 28,000. The player in the hijack three-bet all in for about 90,000, the limper folded and Eminoglu called and showed the hijack player the bad news.
Hijack: K♦K♣
Yucel Eminoglu: A♥A♦
The board ran out with 4♦2♣6♦8♥5♥ and the aces prevailed and Eminoglu amassed a huge stack.
Sammy Farha and Dan Harrington had been sitting at the same table for most of the day, which meant that a clash between the two legends of poker was bound to happen at some point. However, it would have been ambitious to predict that a massive pot between them would ultimately see one sending the other to the rail.
According to the players, Dan Harrington three-bet preflop from the small blind, which Farha called from middle position.
The flop came 9♠A♥10♥. Harrington continued for 35,000 and Farha called.
The 8♣ was dealt out on the turn. Harrington declared all in and Sammy asked for a count. It was settled that it was 72,000. Sammy made a comment about not being able to lay down the hand. “Oh, that sounds like a good hand,” said Harrington, apparently reading Farha as stronger as his delayed decision might suggest.
Farha then made the call.
Dan Harrington: A♣K♦
Sammy Farha: 9♥9♣
There were many gasps at the table upon seeing the players’ cards. Apparently, Sammy had taken another pot from Harrington with a set of nines just a bit earlier.
Harrington was drawing dead on the turn; the dealer dealt out the 10♦, giving Farha the boat and sending Harrington to the rail.
Richard Turner raised from late position to 15,000 and the player in the cutoff and the big blind both called. The flop came out as 9♠7♥7♣ and Turner placed the continuation bet of 20,000 and both players called but this placed the big blind all in for 10,000.
Both players checked the dry side pot on the turn 4♠.
On the river 2♥ Turner bet 20,000 to have the cutoff fold.
The big blind was allowed to leave with dignity and mucked his cards after Turner showed A♠10♥ for the ace high win.
