On a flop of Q♣7♣4♥, James Gorham check-called a 5,000 bet from Nikolai Mamut and then both players checked on the 9♦ turn.

The 10♥ completed the board and Gorham put 8,000 into the middle. Mamut called and Gorham turned over Q♥9♣ for two pair. Mamut mucked and Gorham collected the pot.

On the other side of the table, Marko Grujic has extended his lead over Joseph Miller.

On a wet board of J♣8♦9♣K♣, and 65,000 in the middle, Cary Katz led out with a bet of 50,000 and Artur Martirosian called.

The river brought the 8♥ and Katz fired out another bet, this time for 165,000. Martirosian used two time bank cards before eventually tossing his cards into the muck.

It is proving to be a back and forth match between the two early on.

Kennedy Overtakes Steele

Despite almost losing half his stack, Patrick Kennedy has turned the tides in his duel with Michael Steele and dragged in another pot to create some distance between them.

Kennedy opened to 6,000 from the button and was called. Steele then led out for 16,000 on the 9♣8♥6♦ flop and was called before the A♦ turn checked through to the 10♠ river.

Steele check-called for 15,000 and mucked when Kennedy turned over his his Q♥J♣, which was good for a straight.

Kennedy and Steele have probably played the most hands so far today and are playing at a frenetic pace.

In an interview with PokerNews, actor James Woods made a passioned plea for the Poker Hall of Fame to induct his longtime friend, "Miami" John Cernuto.

It's that time of year again for the poker community to begin discussions about who should be the next to reach poker's most elite club. The WSOP Poker Hall of Fame will begin taking fan nominations for the one-person Class of 2024 next month, and then the living members of the HOF will vote on a winner based on the top fan vote getters.

Messere Looking to End it Early

Kane Kalas raised it up to 6,000, before being three bet by Owen Messere to 27,500. Kalas elected to make the call and see a flop.

The flop ran out J♠6♥2♠, and both players decided to check.

The turn brought the 2♦, Messere fired out a bet of 70,000, and Kalas made the call to head to the river.

With 195,000 in the pot, the board was completed with the A♦. After using a time bank, Messere went for the knockout early, declaring all in. Kalas wasted little time and threw his cards in the muck, giving Messere the early lead.

Martirosian Cracks Aces to Take Early Lead

On a board of Q♥4♥2♣9♣7♥, Artur Martirosian and Cary Katz were involved in a sizable pot, with over 200,000 in the middle.

The third heart on the river slowed down the action, which went check-check.

Martirosian's two-pair, queens and deuces, Q♠2♠ bested Katz's A♦A♣ to take the lead in the first level of play.

Jacks Enough for Miller

Miller then check-called a 5,000 bet from Grujic on the 6♠J♥3♠ flop and a 22,000 bet from Grujic on the K♣ turn.

Both players checked down on the river and Miller turned over J♠4♠ for a pair of jacks, which got a nod of acknowledgement from Grujic followed by a muck to send the pot Miller’s way.

Across the table, James Gorham has built up a similar chip lead over Nikolai Mamut.

The following hand, Wantman limped in, and Samual checked. Neither player took a stab on the flop and turn, with the board showing 9♣8♦3♠7♠10♥ as they got to the river.

Samual led out for 5,500 but folded when Wantman made it 18,000.
