Mustapha Kanit defended the big blind against an open raise and check-called a bet for 4,000 on the K82 flop. On the Q turn, Kanit check-raised from 7,000 to 21,000 and received a call to then shove the K on the river.

His opponent reluctantly called with the AK, but it was no good as Kanit's A8 had rivered a flush.

Yang Takes a Pot Without Showdown

Jeffrey Mahoney bet the 984 flop for 3,000 and Jerry Yang called as the duo headed to the 2 on the turn. Mahoney then checked and folded when Yang bet 12,000.

Hovey was left to runner-runner outs after the 3A2 flop, and the K turn left him drawing dead. He left the table as the Q river was dealt.

The next hand, Adam Crockett raised, and Seth Zimmerman jammed all in for 40,000 chips. Crockett snap called and the cards were tabled.

The flop read 744. From the hijack, Soenke Jahn bet 2,500. Chris Moneymaker was in the small blind and raised to 7,500. Jahn three-bet to 13,000 and Moneymaker quickly four-bet piled all in for 25,000. Jahn took a few moments before he called to put Moneymaker at risk.

Moneymaker was looking for a diamond as the turn was the J and the river the 4. Jahn pounded the table and let out a "yes!" in celebration as the 2003 Main Event champ was forced to walk away as there will not be a deep run for him in this edition of the biggest poker tournament of the year.

Guo Puts Soyza to the Test

Action was picked up on the flop with roughly 41,000 in the pot with the board showing 298.

Michael Soyza is the big blind bet out 16,000, and Yuebin Guo in early position raised to 66,000. After spending over a minute thinking about his decision, Soyza made the call.

After the K on the turn Soyza checked to Guo who bet all in for 65,500. This sent Soyza in the tank for nearly three minutes, before he mucked his cards and gave the pot to Guo.

van Wauwe Sent to the Rail

A player opened to 3,000 from under the gun and was called by a player in early position. A player in middle position then three-bet to 11,000 only to see Hannes van Wauwe four-bet jam for 26,000 in the cutoff. Action folded back around to the middle position player, who quickly called with the covering stack.

van Wauwe would need to win a flip to survive but could not do so as the board ran out 878JQ to improve his opponent to a full house, leaving van Wauwe heading to the exits.

Debs Wins at Showdown

Yannick Capocetti opened 3,000 in the cutoff and both the small blind and Michael Debs in the big blind made the call.

The dealer spread a flop of JJ8 and the small blind check-folded to a bet of 3,000 from Capocetti, but Debs check-called.

The 10 fell on the turn, and Debs checked to Capocetti who continued with aggression as he tossed two red chips across the line for a bet of 10,000. Debs stuck around once again.

The dealer dropped the 4 on the river, and both players tapped the table. Debs rolled 109 for an open-ended straight draw that turned a ten, and Capocetti mucked his hand.

Kim Gets Depaulo to Call Off on the Flop

Akkari check-called a bet of 4,000 from his opponent on the 1083 flop.

The turn came the 3. Akkari checked and his opponent bet 6,500. Akkari check-raised to 17,000 and after a few moments, his opponent called.

The A on the river got checked through and Akkari took down the pot with 43 for trip threes.
