Reeves & Stratmeyer Bubble the Main Event

Niveau 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Christian Stratmeyer Bubbles WSOP Main Event 2024
Christian Stratmeyer Bubbles WSOP Main Event 2024

Marcelo Tadeu Aziz Junior opened the hijack and was three-bet by Lucas Reeves in the small blind to 80,000. Junior then four-bet to 195,000 before Reeves five-bet to 380,000. The action wasn't over yet as a six-bet came in from Junior to 565,000, then Reeves seven-bet shoved for around 950,000 total. Junior quickly called.

Lucas Reeves: KK All in
Marcelo Tadeu Aziz Junior: AA

As the camera crews and media team arrived to the table, the dealer was given permission to run the board.

Reeves was looking for a king to survive but the runout of 67JQ4 meant he was eliminated on the bubble.

There were five more all-in-and-calls throughout the Horseshoe but one stood out as another player was eliminated.

Terrance Reid opened to 16,000 from middle position and Christian Stratmeyer shoved for 57,000 out of the small blind. Once the big blind folded, Reid made the call which put Stratmeyer at risk.

Christian Stratmeyer: AK All in
Terence Reid: 83

Reid certainly had the stack to make the call and it paid off as he flopped trips on the 868 board which left Stratmeyer needing a miracle to survive.

The 2 on the turn sealed the pot for Reid, with a meaningless 9 river confirming the elimination of Stratmeyer.

As both Reeves and Stratmeyer were eliminated during the same hand, they split a min-cash and will receive $7,500 each for their efforts.

Du Spikes Turn to Double on Bubble

Yue Du Doubles Up on WSOP Main Event Bubble
Yue Du Doubles Up on WSOP Main Event Bubble

Yue Du opened to 25,000 from under the gun and Zyad Qasem called in the next seat before Caleb Larsen three-bet to 90,000 in the hijack. Du moved all in for 159,000 and Qasem folded as Larsen quickly called.

There were five all-ins that needed to play out before the hands were revealed to show Qasem behind.

Yue Du: AQ All in
Caleb Larsen: QQ

Du needed to hit an ace to stay alive and didn't get help from the 552 flop. However, the A turn gave him a big lead and he oddly called for a queen before the K river confirmed him a double.

Muratovic Doubles Through Lonis on the Bubble

Jesse Lonis vs Asko Muratovic
Jesse Lonis vs Asko Muratovic

Asko Muratovic opened from the small blind before moving all in for 419,000 after Jesse Lonis three-bet to 83,000 out of the big blind. Lonis made the call with the covering stack to put his opponent at risk. After hearing that there had been an elimination at another table, Muratovic knew, regardless of the outcome of the hand, he would at the very least chop up a min-cash.

Asko Muratovic: KK All in
Jesse Lonis: AQ

Muratovic was ahead with his cowboys and further cemented his lead on the 1062 flop. Nothing changed on the 6 turn with the 2 river confirming the at-risk player's survival.

Ferreira Gets Main Event One Step Closer to Bursting the Bubble

Niveau 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Kaushal Vasa raised to 16,000 from middle position and Mauro Ferreira three-bet to 45,000 from late position. The action folded to Daniel Negreanu in the big blind, who only had 46,000 left in front of him. He glanced at his cards, contemplated it for a bit but then got out of their way. Vasa four-bet shoved for his last 105,000 for Ferreira to call with the bigger stack.

Play was paused until all action was completed on all other tables and the whole media circus flocked to their table. Jack Effel announced the situation and asked the players to reveal their cards.

Kaushal Vasa: KK All in
Mauro Ferreira: AA

The field gasped and cheered at the same time.

The dealer dealt the 3J2 on the flop to keep Ferreira ahead.

The turn was the Q, which didn't change things, and neither did the 2 as the aces of Ferreira held to get the field down to 1,518, just one spot from the money.

Foxen Allegedly Folds an Ace

Niveau 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Carlos Gomez raised to 16,000 in the hijack and Sergio De Lisboa three-bet to 35,000 in the cutoff. Kristen Foxen then made it 75,000 to go on the button, which only De Lisboa called.

Foxen fired another 28,000 on the 237 flop and was check-called by De Lisboa. The A turn was checked through before De Lisboa jammed all in for 95,000 on the Q river.

"I have an ace," Foxen declared. After some more table talk, she mucked her hand, and was shown QQ by her opponent, for a rivered set of queens.

Nahum Hands Pavlenko a Double

Niveau 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Kfir Nahum opened to 24,000 in the small blind and Yevhen Pavlenko called in the big blind.

Nahum continued for 30,000 following the 3J10 flop. Pavlenko made the call to see a turn.

The turn came 6, prompting Nahum to move all in with the covering stack. It did not take long for Pavlenko to call off for his tournament life. After several minutes, during which three other all in and calls were run out, the cards were put on their backs.

Yevhen Pavlenko: 103 All in
Kfir Nahum: 85

Nahum was drawing dead to Pavlenko's flopped two pair to hand the at-risk player a full double prior to the inconsequential 4 river.
