Hands #71-75: Angelov Gets Pushed Around Twice

Niveau 41 : Blinds 1,200,000/2,400,000, 2,400,000 ante

Hand #71: Niklas Astedt opened to 4,800,000 in the hijack with KQ and Jonathan Tamayo three-bet to 14,400,000 on the button holding the K5. Both blinds folded and so did Astedt.

Hand #73: A walk for Astedt with the J9.

Hand #74: From the button, Boris Angelov opened to 5,400,000 with QJ. Griff in the big blind held AK, pondered his next move, then pushed forward a stack of T-5,000,000 chips with Angelov snap-folding.

Hand #75: Angelov raised to 4,800,000 in the cutoff the next hand with the A10. Astedt three-bet to 11,000,000 with AQ from the next seat and Angelov got out of the way once more.

We've already seen a few interesting hands at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table on Tuesday, and one will certainly be talked about on podcasts and blogs in the coming days.

The hand we're referring to occurred a little over three hours into the session, and it involved one of the most successful players at the table — Brian Kim, a Los Angeles poker pro with over $7.3 million in live tournament cashes prior to the Main Event, according to The Hendon Mob. He'll be adding $1.5 million to that number, but it could have been much higher if not for one interesting hand.

Hand #61: Boris Angelov A8 raised it up to 4,600,000 from the button and Brian Kim three-bet to 11,800,000 in the small blind.

Niklas Astedt pondered his next move in the big blind and then cold four-bet to 19,000,000.

Angelov quickly folded before Kim then pulled the trigger and five-bet all-in for 53,900,000. Astedt was seemingly unhappy when he asked for the count but eventually made the call

Brian Kim: K6 All in
Niklas Astedt: 1010

Kim shook his head as the cards were turned over, and watched as Astedt flopped a set on Q108

Running cards were needed for Kim to survive, and one of them came with the 5 turn, but Kim could not pull off the miracle escape as the 6 river ended his run in seventh place for $1,500,000.

Loud "Lena" chants came from the arena as online crusher Astedt leaped into a commanding lead with six players remaining.
