Senovio Ramirez III Leads the Millionaire Maker at the End of Day 2

Niveau 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Senovio Ramirez III
Senovio Ramirez III

The clock is paused and ten more levels are in the books at the end of Day 2 of the Millionaire Maker. Just two more days remain before the 2017 World Series of Poker crowns yet another millionaire, and 136 players are still in contention.

Senovio Ramirez III is the clear chip leader at the end of the night, finishing with a whopping 1,570,000 chips, good for 130 big blinds coming back to blinds at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 ante. The second spot on the leader board belongs to Lucas Blanco (1,339,000), with Daniel Lee rounding out the top three stacks with 1,196,000 chips. Of the remaining players, just nine of them have stacks over a million, from the 7,500-chip starting stack on Day 1.

The day began with 1,187 players from a total of 7,761 entries between the two starting days, making this the second-biggest Millionaire Maker event in WSOP's history. The tournament director also announced that this tournament has the second-largest number of payouts in WSOP history.

Within the first 15 minutes of the first level of the day, the bubble had burst, but not before Frank Kassela had Jordan Knackstedt on the ropes and in the tank for about 13 minutes. Knackstedt eventually folded, and it was Todd Taylor who turned a straight and rivered a flush to eliminate Robert Bourkney on the stone bubble. Bourkney held two pair and couldn't fill up to save his tournament life.

Some of the notables who are still in the running for the elusive WSOP gold bracelet and first-place prize of $1,221,407 include Brian Altman (1,112,000), Mark Dube (951,000), Jessica Dawley (650,000), Stanley Lee (575,000), Thomas Taylor (526,000), Kenny Hallaert (523,000), Joe Cada (508,000), Arkadiy Tsinis (483,000), Bertrand 'Elky' Grospellier (451,000), Brian Rast (357,000), Bryan Piccioli (318,000), Shawn Buchanan (266,000), Jacob Bazeley (208,000), Matt Affleck (207,000), Farah Galfond (190,000), and Jordan Cristos (105,000).

With such a massive field, it's no surprise that a ton of familiar faces made it deep in the money today, including Humberto Brenes (180th place - $6,948), Nacho Barbero (209th place - $6,948), David Peters (212th place - $6,943), Upeshka De Silva (224th place - $6,943), David Pham (225th place - $6,943), Garrett Greer (336th place - $5,298), Maria Ho (397th place - $4,683), and Antonio Esfandiari (736th place - $2,861).

Day 3 begins at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, and players will battle it out for another ten levels. The remaining field will advance to Day 4 on Wednesday, and a winner will be crowned.

Keep following along as PokerNews brings all of the action on the way to crowning yet another millionaire!

Brian Rast Sends Two to the Rail

Niveau 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

There was some commotion over on Brian Rast's table, and two players were on their feet.

The board read {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, and Rast had {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} in front of him for the nut straight, along with the fact that he had flopped a Royal Flush draw. According to a player at the table, all of the chips went in the middle with a total of three players. One held two black sevens, and the other held ace-queen offsuit.

Rast had both players covered and graciously shook their hands as they were sent to the rail near the end of Day 2.

Dawley Sends Her Tilted Opponent Packing

Niveau 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Jessica Dawley
Jessica Dawley

Jessica Dawley just arrived at her new table to see one of the players toss his cards across the table in frustration. In the very next hand, Dawley raised to 12,000 from early position and got a call from that very same opponent. The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}, and Dawley led out for 14,000. Her opponent raised to 40,000, and Dawley called.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, and Dawley checked to her opponent, who bet 65,000. Dawley raised all in, having her opponent covered and clearly frustrated. He reluctantly threw in his remaining 120,000, and Dawley was uncertain about the result, "You might have the best hand," she said.

Dawley tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, which was indeed the best hand versus her opponent's {6-Spades}{7-Spades} for straight and flush draws. The river brought the {10-Clubs}, and Dawley secured the win and the elimination of what was a visibly tilted opponent.

A player in early position raised to 13,000, and Matt Affleck three-bet to 30,000 from middle position. The early-position player called.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and the initial raiser moved all in for about 50,000. Affleck quickly called, revealing {a-Spades}{q-Spades} before his opponent showed {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and said, "I was hoping ya didn't have the ace. I was hoping ya had a pair."

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and the river was the {7-Diamonds}, sending the pot Affleck's way and his opponent to the rail.

On a board reading {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}, David 'Dragon' Pham led out for 12,500 from the hijack and the player in the cutoff called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Pham opted to check this time. His opponent bet 22,000 and Pham wasted no time calling.

The river was the {5-Diamonds}. Pham thought for a moment and then fired out a bet worth 41,000. The cutoff thought for a moment and called. Pham tabled {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight to the eight, and his opponent flung his cards face down into the muck,

Upeshka De Silva is Eyeing Up Bracelet Number Three

Upeshka De Silva
Upeshka De Silva

On a board reading {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, the player in the big blind checked, and Upeshka De Silva bet 6,500 from the cutoff. His opponent wasted no time and check-raised to 18,500. De Silva thought for a moment before calling.

The turn was the {5-Spades} and the big blind moved all in for 61,500. De Silva took his sunglasses off and asked for a count. After about a minute, he called.

The big blind was at risk with {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a flush draw, and De Silva tabled {10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for two pairs, tens and fives. The river was the {9-Spades} and De Silva scooped the pot and earned an elimination.

De Silva just took down the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'Em Shootout event, winning his second WSOP bracelet. He has a healthy stack halfway through Day 2 and is most definitely a threat with the chips he has collected thus far.
