Chris Vitch remporte un bracelet World Series of Poker pour le deuxième été de suite. L'an dernier, il avait battu 235 joueurs sur un 2500$ Mixed Triple Draw, cette fois il a dominé 124 adversaires sur le WSOP #48 Stud Hi-Lo Championship à 10.000$ le buy-in. L'Américain de 34 ans encaisse 320 193$ pour sa victoire dans le Nevada.

"C'est différent de mon premier succès. Le n°1 c'était sur mon jeu favori, même si j'aime le Stud8 je n'avais jamais rien fait de bon sur un tournoi de cette importance. Je suis donc très fier car la qualité sur un Championship est très importante. C'est un accomplissement différent. Gagner un Champiosnhip c'est la certitude que vous pouvez vous battre contre l'élite et c'est une super sensation", a indiqué le joueur US qui a privé Benny Glaser d'une troisième breloque WSOP en quatre ans après un head's up qui a bien amusé les spécialistes.

La journée avait débuté avec 11 survivants cumulant 28 bracelets WSOP. Responsable de la moitié de la collection avec ses 14 titres, Phil Hellmuth a perdu de nombreux coups contre Abe Mosseri pour échouer à la bulle de la TF officielle. Deux anciens vainqueurs, Randy Ohel et Dan Shak, avaient déjà rendu les armes avant le Poker Brat.

Vitch étaient déjà aux avant-postes, Mosseri et Glaser déjà bien placés. Alexandre Luneau étaient lui mal en point et Brock Parker va éteindre les derniers espoirs du Français (8e pour 33 625$).

En mode croisière, "la partie a été linéaire toute la journée", Chris Vitch continuait aussi à aspirer les jetons après la sortie du dernier étranger de la finale, le Canadien Jonathan Duhamel (5e pour 72 876$).

Le plan a 3 va voir les jetons changer de mains entre Mosseri, Glaser et Vitch mais un rush va permettre au futur vainqueur de se positionner. "J'ai beaucoup joué en short handed dans cette variante online, j'étais donc très à l'aise. J'ai eu de bonnes mains aussi donc c'était plus facile" a commenté Vitch qui va tout de même lutter 4 heures lors de l'ultime duel alors qu'il avait un avantage de 15 contre 1 en jetons.

"Il a très bien joué. Je savais que tout pouvait arriver et j'ai bien cru que cela allait arriver quand il est revenu... mais j'étais prêt. J'étais détendu car j'ai déjà gagné. J'étais prêt à jouer aussi longtemps qu'il le fallait, je n'ai jamais eu l'impression que cela me filait entre les doigts car je savais que ça allait être la guerre. C'est un grand joueur. Il m'a dit qu'il n'avait jamais perdu un head's up aux WSOP, je suis heureux d'être le premier", a poursuivi le champion, "heureux" d'avoir eu les cartes à la fin. Glaser showed {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a full house and that was good for him to take down the massive pot.

The next hand Vitch open folded and Glaser showed rolled up fours.
