Blake Bohn Climbing

Niveau 4 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Cary Katz limped in from middle position, Haralabos Voulgaris raised to 9,000 from the cutoff, Blake Bohn called from the big blind, Katz limp-reraised to 36,000, Voulgaris folded, and Bohn called.

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Bohn check-called 35,500 from Katz to see the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Bohn checked, Katz bet 75,000, Bohn check-raised to 250,000, and Katz called after a little while. The river was the {6-Diamonds} and both players checked.

Bohn showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for a set of queens, Katz mucked, and Bohn collected the pot.

No Dinner Break

Niveau 4 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The original plan was to play 10 levels today with a break after Level 6. Instead, the tournament organization has just decided to play eight levels today with no dinner break. The (late) registration and time to reenter when busted remain the same. Instead of till the start of Day 2, though, registration is now open until the start of the third level on Day 2.

Polk Takes From Kamran

Niveau 4 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Michael Kamran raised to 9,500 from under the gun, Doug Polk three-bet to 30,500 from the button, and Kamran called.

They checked to the turn of a {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Spades} board where Kamran bet 36,000. Polk called to see the {J-Diamonds} turn and both players checked.

Kamran turned over his hand too quickly to see, but Polk had it beat with {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens to win the pot.

Shak's Huge Bluff Doesn't Work

Niveau 3 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The board was already out in a sizable hand between Dan Shak and Cary Katz.

On {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}, Shak had three chips of 25,000 each in front of him, though the bet could've been smaller. Katz had a raise to 156,600 in front of him with 113,000 behind. Shak shoved all in and Katz tanked for a fair bit before he somewhat reluctantly called.

Shak tabled {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the missed draw. Katz took it down with the {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Defending Champion Fedor Holz Eliminated by Antonio Esfandiari

Niveau 3 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

Defending champion Fedor Holz was recently eliminated by Antonio Esfandiari, and tablemate Byron Kaverman relayed the details to us.

Holz raised from the button, Esfandiari called from the small blind, and the flop fell {8-}{4-}{3-} with two clubs. Esfandiari checked, Holz bet, Esfandiari check-raised, and Holz called. The turn was the {J-Clubs} and Esfandiari bet again. Holz called to see a {J-} river where Esfandiari bet effectively 200,000.

Holz called all in and Esfandiari tabled {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} for trip jacks. Holz couldn't beat it, and the defending champion was eliminated.
