Dylan Linde Leads Final 27 in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Turbo

Niveau 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Dylan Linde
Dylan Linde

It was a case of blink and you’ll miss them as players turned out for Day 1 of Event #65: No-Limit Hold’em (30 minute levels). After 20 levels of play, only 27 of the starting 1,413 remain in contention for the title.

Dylan Linde leads the way with over 100 starting stacks in this turbo format, and he is joined by Anton Bertilsson (432,000), Toro Istvan (413,000) and Aaron Hirst (459,000), amongst others who bagged above average stacks.

Some of the early players in their seats were Kenny Hallaert, Barry Greenstein, Jonathan Little, Jared Hamby, Cate Hall, Ismael Bojang, Rocco Palumbo, Fabrice Soulier, 2004 Main Event winner Greg Raymer, 2017 bracelet-winner Mohsin Charania and many more.

The event is scheduled for two days, and the money bubble burst shortly before players went on their dinner break. Some of the players to narrowly miss out on a $1,503 min-cash included Josh Beckley, Tony Cousineau, Ari Engel, Chris Ferguson and Bernard Lee.

The money bubble burst when two players, including Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, bust on separate tables. Grospellier’s bust was the uglier of the two; getting Kings in against Aces. There was a king on the flop, but also an Ace, and Grospellier had to settle with a min-cash, albeit half of one.

Players who cashed for the minimum $1,503 included Andrew Barber (200th), Scott Davies (199th), Natasha Mercier (198th) and Antoine Saout (186th).

The jump to $1,573 saw the likes of Jean Montury (165th), 888poker Ambassador Bruno Politano (163rd), William Kassouf (161st) and Mike Leah (158th) exit the tournament.

As the day drew on there was no let up in the bust outs, with Maxim Lykov (86th) and Tobias Peters (87th) busting, and Nacho Barbero exiting in 72nd ($2,821).

By the end of the night, players were redrawing around three tables and will return with just 27 players remaining.

Play resumes on Wednesday, 5th July at 12 p.m. local time. Keep it right here on PokerNews for live updates from the field.

Boris Kolev Holds in Unlikely Fashion

Niveau 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Boris Kolev
Boris Kolev

A player in middle position shoved all in for his remaining 26,500, and the player in the cutoff called. The action was up to Boris Kolev, in the small blind, who decided to shove all in, too. The player in the cutoff had a decision to make, and after a while, he decided to fold and showed {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Mid-position: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Boris Kolev: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{7-Spades}. Kolev's opponent flopped a full house, sevens full of kings.

The turn brought them the {K-Hearts}. Now Kolev had the upper hand with a higher full house, kings full of tens.

The river completed the board with the {K-Clubs} to give Kolev quad kings with a ten kicker. Kolev eliminated the other player and took all the chips in the pot.

Bertrand Grospellier earlier this summer

There were two eliminations as the bubble was announced, so they will split the payouts. One of the players spotted heading to the payouts was Bertrand Grospellier. We headed to his table to find out how he bust.

According to Gianluca Speranza, there was a raise from under the gun to 2,600 and a call before a third player raised to 8,500. Grospellier then four-bet all in for 26,500. Speranza called and the other players all folded.

Speranza: {a-}{a-}
Grospellier: {k-}{k-}

Speranza said that the flop was {a-}{k-}{x-} and there was no further help to Grospellier and he was eliminated on the bubble.

Under-the-gun player: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Kassouf: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The under-the-gun player had a full house, tens over queens. Kassouf had a set of queens.

Things are heating up at the top of the World Series of Poker as the summer reaches its conclusion, with John Racener and Chris Ferguson battling it out at the top of the table.

Racener has a small lead, but has been eliminated from this tournament. Meanwhile, Ferguson still has chips and is looking for yet another cash at this year's WSOP. If he reaches the money, it will be his 15th cash of the summer and will give him a boost in the Player of the Year standings.

"What are you limping with?" William Kassouf asked.

A player limped from early position and Kassouf raised from the small blind to 1,400. His opponent then moved all in for 10,025.

"You limp, I raise," he continued, "I'm not raising light."

Eventually the clock was called on Kassouf. With the new 30-second clock rule, Kassouf had slightly less time than last year to come to a decision.

"You show if I fold?" he asked, "You got a big hand?"

"There's only one way to find out," replied his opponent. Eventually Kassouf let his hand go.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #65: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em (30-minute levels)

Happy Fourth of July, and welcome to the start of Event #65: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em (30-minute levels) which is set to begin at 11 a.m. Last year there were 1,397 entries in this event, and Corey Thompson took home the coveted gold WSOP bracelet and first prize of $221,163. Thompson won his first WSOP bracelet over a quick two days of play and cashed for his biggest win ever. Thompson has cashed twice during this year’s series as well, so he might be back to defend his title.

[Removed:4] finished in second place last year and has cashed once during this WSOP series, so that’s another name to look out for. Terry Fan came in sixth place last year and has four WSOP cashes this summer with 57th place being his best result. Ryan Pochedly and Benjamin Reinhart finished in eighth and ninth, respectively, and they both have cashed twice this summer, so they might be back as well to try to better their results compared to last year.

This will be a two-day event. Players who enter the event will receive 5,000 in tournament chips. Levels will be 30 minutes long with 20-minute breaks every four levels and a 90-minute dinner break after Level 12 which will be around 5.40 p.m. Twenty levels of play are scheduled for today with registration open till the start of Level 7 (approximately 2.20 p.m).
