Premier bracelet WSOP pour James Calderaro qui encaisse 1,2 million

Niveau 30 : 120,000/240,000, 0 ante
James Calderaro Wins Event #67
James Calderaro Wins Event #67

Même quand j'ai perdu les As contre les As. Mon rail... leur tête... ils regardaient tous le sol... j'ai regardé mon fils dans les yeux et je lui ai dit que cela n'était pas important. Je ne voulais pas perdre? Je savais que je n'allais pas perdre. J'ai mal joué cette main, mon erreur... mais je croyais vraiment à la victoire finale depuis le début du tournoi", a terminé celui qui n'a jamais arrêté de croire qu'il allait partager un moment inoubliable avec son fils Anthony.

Alexey Rybin Finishes Runner Up
Alexey Rybin Finishes Runner Up

Alexey Rybin raised to 700,000 and James Calderaro three-bet the pot. Rybin announced a reraise and Calderaro moved all in to pick up a call by Rybin.

Alexey Rybin: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
James Calderaro: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Calderaro's rail asked for a king and got their wish granted on the {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop. Rybin was in need of the case queen or a jack for the straight, but the {K-Diamonds} turn and {8-Hearts} river failed to improve the Russian. Rybin was eliminated in 2nd place for $796,706 while Calderaro's rail jumped from their seats to celebrate.

Calderaro will receive the elusive gold bracelet and a first-place payout of $1,289,074. A recap of today's action will be available later tonight.

James Calderaro Doubles Up

Alexey Rybin raised to 500,000, and James Calderaro called.

On the {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, Calderaro bet 750,000, and Rybin called. After the {3-Diamonds} turn, Calderaro bet the pot, Rybin moved all in, and Calderaro called.

James Calderaro: {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Alexey Rybin: {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

Calderaro was freerolling with the better diamond draw, and the {10-Hearts} river blanked to chop it up.

Then, Calderaro made it 500,000 to go, and Rybin called.

On the {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop, Rybin checked, and Calderaro bet 600,000. Rybin check-raised to 2,800,000, and Calderaro was sent into the think tank. "That's a good one," he said to his rail,"

Rybin replied, "Let's finish it," followed by a, "Take your time."

Calderaro then called one minute later, and Rybin moved all in after the {J-Clubs} turn. Calderaro quickly called.

James Calderaro: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Alexey Rybin: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

The {5-Clubs} on the river was a blank, and Calderaro doubled for 4,785,000 while his rail erupted in massive celebration.

Esther Taylor

Alexey Rybin raised to 500,000 from the button, and Esther Taylor called from the big blind.

The flop came down {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, and Taylor bet the pot for 1,100,000. Rybin raised, and Taylor called all in for about 1,660,000 total.

Rybin: {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Taylor: {K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}

Taylor was in dire straits with a straight draw and backdoor flush draw against Rybin's trips.

The {10-Hearts} turn and {J-Hearts} river completed the board, no help to "E-Tay" to end her run in third place.

Artem Babakhanyan

Alexey Rybin raised to 350,000 on the button, and James Calderaro called in the small blind. Artem Babakhanyan called from the big blind, and the flop came {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Babakhanyan moved all in, and Rybin gave it some thought before folding.

"How much is it?" Calderaro asked. Babakhanyan's all in was for 610,000, which he called.

Artem Babakhanyan: {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
James Calderaro: {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}

The Russian rail was asking for spades, as that would lock up the double for their countryman. Instead, the {9-Hearts} turn and {6-Hearts} river gave Calderaro a straight, and Babakhanyan was sent to the rail in fourth place for $379,128.

All three remaining players are now guaranteed at least $543,713.

Calderaro Doubles in Spectacular Hand

James Calderaro Doubles Up
James Calderaro Doubles Up

James Calderaro raised to 275,000, and Artem Babakhanyan called on the button, as did Alexey Rybin in the big blind.

On the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Rybin checked, and Calderaro bet 700,000, which only Babakhanyan called. The {6-Hearts} fell on the turn, and Calderaro asked for the size of the pot, which was 2,275,000. He bet that much after brief consideration with only 100,000 behind. Babakhanyan cut out the chips fior the call and had it covered by some 16 big blinds, then said, "I call the all-in," without realizing that Calderaro still had chips behind.

Calderaro nearly exposed his cards, and the {A-Spades}{6-Spades} were visible before he turn them over again and confirmed to go all in dark. The {Q-Spades} on the river failed to improve Babakhanyan, and he shook his head while Calderaro flipped over his {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

Babakhanyan mucked his {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} face-up for busted straight and flush draws.

Bryce Yockey won Event #51: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship for his first bracelet, but he won't be adding a second bracelet to his collection just yet.

Alexey Rybin raised to 300,000 from the button, and Yockey three-bet to 1,000,000 out of the small blind. Rybin quickly called, and the flop came {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Yockey moved all in for 1,730,000, and Rybin snap-called.

Bryce Yockey: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Alexey Rybin: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}

Yockey needed a ten or running cards in order to improve, and the {3-Clubs} turn was a start. However, the {4-Spades} river blanked, and Yockey was eliminated in fifth place for $270,242.

Rybin holds a commanding lead with more than 60 percent of the chips in play, and all four remaining players have at least $379,128 guaranteed.

Dario Sammartino Eliminated in 6th Place ($197,007)

Niveau 25 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

The two minor hands prior brought plenty of entertainment in table chat when Alexey Rybin said, "Always raise," to James Calderaro, prompting Esther Taylor to shoot back an, "Always call," in the direction of Rybin. This caused chuckles all around the table, and even the always-serious Artem Babakhanyan cracked a smile.

Then, Dario Sammartino limped in, and Rybin min-raised to 160,000. James Calderaro, in the big blind, smiled over to Rybin, who said with a dry voice in Russian accent, "You say always call, so I raise." Calderaro called, and Sammartino raised the pot to 680,000.

"What can I do?" Rybin asked and folded half a minute later. Calderaro added, "I am not going to fold. I will finish him off," and raised the pot to see Sammartino call all in for around 1,400,000.

Dario Sammartino: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
James Calderaro: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Calderaro announced the cards to his rail, who then asked for the {A-Diamonds}. Calderaro replied, "He has diamonds," so his rail asked for the {A-Clubs} instead, which Calderaro had in his hand.

The flop fell {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and Calderaro found his ace, but Sammartino was alive with a flush draw. The Italian added a second flush draw on the {8-Diamonds} turn, and Calderaro's rail asked for a black three. The river was the {4-Spades}, and Sammartino was eliminated in sixth place for $197,007.

Dan Smith Eliminated in 7th Place ($146,961)

Dan Smith
Dan Smith

From under the gun, Dan Smith raised the pot to 280,000, and Alexey Rybin called in the hijack.

On the {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop, Smith took some time before announcing a pot-sized continuation bet with very few chips behind. Rybin moved all in, and Smith called.

Dan Smith: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Alexey Rybin: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

Smith immediately showed his cards, while Rybin rolled them over one after the other. Smith was in desperate shape and needed running aces or spades to avoid elimination, and he was left drawing dead on the {6-Hearts} turn. That made the {4-Hearts} river a mere formality, and Smith had to settle for seventh place and a payday of $146,961 after finishing third in this very event one year ago.

All remaining players are guaranteed at least $197,007 for their efforts.
