Ma Snap-Shoves

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Tony Ma opened to 2,000 in middle position and Javier Zarco three-bet to a little over 6,000 from the button. The instant the blinds had released their cards, Ma shoved all his chips in. Zarco asked for a count and it was about 58,000.

Zarco muttered about how fast Ma shoved all in and then let his hand go.

At another table in Brasilia, Carl Carodenuto has climbed up to a count that puts him in contention for the lead.

Fatima Moreira de Melo Loses One

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Fatima Moreira de Melo had opened the action and picked up one caller in the big blind.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. Action was checked to de Melo who bet 1,900 and got a call.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and it was checked again to de Melo who bet 5,000. Her opponent thought for a while before check-raising to 12,100. De Melo thought for a good long while before calling.

The river card was the {7-Spades} and both players checked.

“Pair,” her opponent said and de Melo was about to show but mucked when her opponent turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Rollercoaster Ride for Joshua Haupt

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Daniel Statman three-bet to 5,600 from the small blind and Joshua Haupt moved all in for 15,500 from the big blind. The initial raiser folded and Statman called.

Haupt: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Statman: {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Haupt clapped his hands together in celebration. The turn was the {8-Clubs}, giving Statman a straight and Haupt got to his feet and walked away from the table, apparently accepting his fate.

The river was the {7-Spades}, giving Haupt a full house.

Haupt started to collect his things before realising he had a full house and was best.

"Oh my gosh," he said. "What a roller coaster!"

"You didn't see the boat hit, right?" asked a tablemate.

"No! Oh gosh, oh gosh," said Haupt over and over again.

"I thought with the celebration on the flop and the flush draw you were gone!" said Statman.

Liebert Can't Get a Fold

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

On a board of {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}, there was already 16,000 chips in the pot between Kathy Liebert and one other opponent. The player was first to act, and from the big blind he checked it over to Liebert. Liebert put out a bet of 20,000 and the other player was in the tank.

He thought for several minutes as the bet represented more than 80 percent of his remaining chip stack. Eventually, he decided to call. Liebert showed {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the straight on the board. The player looked like he was going to muck his hand, then turned over {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} to chop the pot.

"You were one orange chip short of making him fold," another player said from the table. "He cut out his stack and only had 6,400 left behind after the bet. He probably would've folded."

The pot was already around 25,000 when the board read {J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Kristy Arnett lead out for 6,500 from mid-position and was called by Kollar Andrej on the button.

The river completed the board with the {9-Spades}, Arnett bet 7,000, and Andrej took his time to consider all his option. He counted out his chips and then decided to make the call. Arnett showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for the missed flush draw. Andrej showed {J-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair, jacks and eights, and the pot.

Mizrachi All Over the Map

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi began the day with 81,500. An hour later, he had about 180,000, and about 90 minutes later, is back down to about 80,000. Just another day at the office for "The Grinder".

Mizrachi limped in from under the gun, Valerie Ross limped in from the next seat over, the player in the small blind raised to 3,000, and both Mizrachi and Ross called. The flop came down {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the small blind bet 6,000. Mizrachi raised to 13,000, Ross folded, and the small blind folded.

In the following hand, the player on the button limped in, the player in the small blind completed, and Mizrachi raised an additional 5,000 from the big blind. The button folded, the small blind limp-shoved for about 35,000, and Mizrachi chuckled for a bit before he folded.

Dedusha Laying Waste on Day 2

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Artan Dedusha began the day with 109,700, and he had to jump through hoops to even be allowed to play. That's because he failed to bring any sort of ID with his name on it, and the floor staff had to walk him through a procedure that allowed him to bypass the usual ID check.

When he finally made it to his seat, Dedusha looks to have made up for lost time in a hurry. He won at least one pot with pocket aces against pocket kings, and he has rocketed up to nearly 350,000.

Chino Rheem Puts on the Pressure, Continues to Build

Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

The player under the gun raised to 2,100 and Chino Rheem called in middle position. The remaining players folded and it was heads up. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and the preflop raiser bet 6,000. Rheem called and the turn was the {K-Spades}. The first player checked, and Rheem bet 35,000, enough to put his opponent to an all-in decision.

His opponent thought for more than one minute before releasing his cards. Rheem took the pot and is now closing in on 200,000 chips, up significantly from his stack of 59,200 to start the day.
