JC Tran Eliminated

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
JC Tran
JC Tran

There is a JC Tran-shaped hole in the tournament and Leo Margets, who is still at the table, recounted his exit.

JC Tran opened from the button and Manuel Thiede called from the big blind.

The flop was {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Tran continuation bet, and Thiede called. The turn was the {q-Clubs} and a check from Thiede saw another bet from Tran who then called when Thiede bet enough to put him in.

Tran had turned top pair with his {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, but Thiede had {a-}{7-} for the flopped trips.

The river was a blank and Tran was on his way.

Matuson Clipped

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Stacy Matuson opened with a raise from the cutoff to 2,100. She found one caller from the big blind.

The flop was {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and both players checked. They checked again on the {A-Diamonds} turn. On the {J-Diamonds} river, the big blind put out a bet of 3,500 and Matuson quickly called.

The big blind player showed {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair and it was good as Matuson only had {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for top pair.

Despite dropping the small pot, Matuson is still up for the day, sporting a stack close to 150,000.

Goindoo Folds Jacks

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

From under the gun, Roger Goindoo raised to 2,000, and behind him Larry Ormson three-bet to 5,100. Charles Wilt four-bet all in for 33,800 and the player in the big blind tank-folded. Goindoo also got out of the way and Ormson called all in for his last 26,600.

Ormson tabled {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and was in need of help, as Wilt had the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. However, the board came {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Ormson got there with a runner-runner four-card straight. Wilt walked away from the table in disgust to take a deep breath. He was left with a mere 7,000, while Ormson got back up to where he started.

As for Goindoo, he added in table chat "seat one folded jacks" and he remains the biggest stack on his table.

Artan Dedusha raised to 2,000 from the cutoff, the player in the big blind three-bet to 6,000, and Dedusha called.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} and the player in the big blind shoved for about 19,000. Dedusha called instantly with {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, leading his opponent's {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

The {A-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river completed the board, safe for Dedusha to score the elimination.

John Smith Eliminated After Massive Bluff

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
John Smith
John Smith

A player raised from early position and John Smith called. Quoc Vu three-bet to his direct left, the original raiser folded, and Smith called again. Both players checked the {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop. The {10-Hearts} on the turn prompted a 15,000 bet from Smith, which was a sizable portion of the pot. Vu raised to 35,000 and Smith called.

The {9-Hearts} on the river brought four cards to a straight and Smith moved all in for 62,000. Vu was unsure how to respond to the shove and spent more than three minutes in the tank, all while Smith sat there motionless. Vu had the calling chips in hand and eventually put the chips in with a loud bang.

Smith showed {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a pair of sevens and a missed flush draw. Vu, visibly relieved, slammed open {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a set of sevens. The Purple Heart recipient's massive bluff didn't get through, and Vu skyrocketed to 375,000.

Benger Gets Short

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Griffin Benger defended his big blind against a raise by the cutoff and the {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop was checked through. Benger check-raised the {Q-Clubs} turn from 2,700 to 9,800 and was called before betting the {K-Hearts} river for 15,000. His opponent folded and that brought Benger's stack up to more than 70,000.

However, that fortune didn't last long as the 2016 November Niner from Canada soon after lost two-thirds of his stack to drop back on a short stack.

Niveau 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Adam Darkazalli opened preflop and William Blais three-bet. Darkazalli called and a {3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop fanned out. Blais bet 6,000 and called a check-raise to 15,000 from Darkazalli.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Darkazalli shoved for 48,400. Blais thought for just a moment before making the call.

Blais: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Darkazalli: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

The river was a blank and Blais paid the double.
