Marco Slacanac Ends Day 1A of the Main Event as Chip Leader

Day 1A of Event #10: €10,350 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event is in the books at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov. Marco Slacanac from Germany is the chip leader at the end of seven 90-minute levels with 544,300 in chips. Other notable players that are still in include Vladimir Geshkenbein (500,000), Sylvain Loosli (340,700), Kristen Bicknell (329,200), and Niall Farrell (325,000).

The day started with only a mere 40 players at the tables, but the number kept rising until the end of the day as they ended with 140 players. They all started the day with 1,000,000 chips and at the end of the day, 73 out of 140 players managed to survive the day. That makes up for an average chip stack of 191,781.

Will Givens, Viktor Blom, Martin Kabrhel, Davidi Kitai, and Shaun Deeb, unfortunately, didn’t make it to Day 2. Last year’s third-place finisher Mathijs Jonkers also didn’t manage to make Day 2. The 2018 WSOP Main Event champion, John Cynn, was eliminated as well and didn't bring any chips to Day 2. Abdelhakim Zoufri lost a big pot at the end of the day against Alex Foxen. Foxen six-bet all in with ace-ten and Zoufri called with ace-king. The board ran out ten high and the Dutchman was eliminated. Foxen bagged a big stack of 411,700.

There is nothing to worry about though, as the players who busted out today still have the option to register for another flight. They can either register on Day 1B or directly buy into Day 2. Late registration is still open until the end of the dinner break after the fourth level of Day 2 and all the players that have busted out today still have a shot of grabbing a piece of the €5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Other players were more fortunate and managed to make Day 2 on just one bullet. Among those players are Vojtech Ruzicka (259,400), Ole Schemion (233,700) , and Anthony Zinno (179,500). Ryan Riess (249,300) also managed to make Day 2, despite making a misclick that cost him 20,000 chips. Riess wanted to put in a 5,000 bet and put in five 5,000 chips instead of five 1,000 chips. Despite ending up at the losing side of that pot he still managed to bag 249,300.

Day 1B will kick-off on Sunday, October 28th, at 12 p.m. local time. They will play the same seven 90-minute levels as the players did today and the field will combine on Monday, October 29th. Day 2 will start with Level 8: 600/1,200 with a big blind ante of 1,200. The PokerNews team will be on site to cover the tournament from start to finish.

Foxen Elliminates Zoufri in Huge Six-Bet Pot

Niveau 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Alex Foxen
Alex Foxen

Right before the end of the day it was Alex Foxen who got in a huge clash with Dutchman Abdelhakim Zoufri.

Foxen opened the party with a raise to 2,200. Zoufri three-bet to 7,000 but it wasn't done yet. Foxen decided to go for the four-bet and he bumped it up to 20,500. Zoufri then went on to actually five-bet to 63,000. Alex Foxen moved all in for effectively 180,000 and Zoufri called.

Zoufri was playing {A-}{K-} and he had Foxen's {A-}{10-} dominated. Unfortunately for Zoufri the board ran out ten high and Foxen managed to hit one of his three direct outs.

Zoufri can try again tomorrow while Foxen takes a big stack to Day 2.

Wantman Wins Another Small Pot

Niveau 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Alex Foxen raised to 2,200 from the hijack and three players at the table called. Abdelhakim Zoufri called from the cutoff, Yunsheng Sun called from the button, and Matthew Wantman called from the big blind.

The {8-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop was dealt and all four players checked. The turn was the {J-Hearts} and big blind Wantman chose to lead out with a bet of 3,600. Foxen and Zoufri folded, but Sun stuck around.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Wantman fired 11,000 this time. Sun thought about it for a minute before he let go of his cards.
