Foxen Wins Race To Survive

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

A player in early position opened to 4,000 and was three-bet to 11,500 by the cutoff. Action then folded to Kristen Foxen who, despite the high level of action that preceded her, moved all in. The early position player re-shoved and the cutoff folded to put Foxen at risk.

Kristen Foxen: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Early Position Player: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

It was a classic coinflip and one Foxen would need to win to continue play in this flight. The {q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop kept her in front as did the {9-Spades} turn. Foxen managed to fade her opponent's outs on the {q-Diamonds} river and in so doing secure a crucial double up.

Song Doubles Through Riordan

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

With roughly 40,000 in the pot on a {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} completed board, Stephen Song was in early position and check-called for his 19,500 remaining chips against John Riordan in the cutoff.

Riordan tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for the queen-high flush, but it was no good against Song's {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} king-high flush, and Song took the pot for the double-up.

Loosli Doubles

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Slvian Loosli
Slvian Loosli

Prior to this hand, Sylvain Loosli had slipped to just 20,500 or a shade over ten big blinds. Action folded around to the button, who opened to 5,000. Loosli moved all in from the small blind and the big blind player re-jammed with the larger stack. Once the button player folded Loosli was officially at risk.

Sylvain Loosli: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Big Blind Player: {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

Though all in for his tournament life, Loosli had his opponent dominated and was in a good place to double up. The {9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop all but sealed the deal, with the big blind player needing running hearts, threes or wheel cards to bust the French poker pro. The {2-Clubs} turn did provide a sweat with the big blind player picking up a gutshot but the {j-Diamonds} river bricked out to bring Loolsi back up above starting stack.

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The dealer spread the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop, Simao led for 20,500, and Moran conceded the pot.

Cheong Does Not Follow Through

Niveau 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

Joseph Cheong opened to 3,000 from middle position and received a sole call from the cutoff.

Both players checked through the {3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop to the {5-Spades} turn. Cheong then led out for 7,500 but was unable to shed his opponent, who made the call.

Cheong checked on the {9-Hearts} river and his opponent checked back before turning over {a-Spades}{4-Spades} for ace high. That was good enough to scoop the pot as Cheong revealed he held {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for missed straight and flush draws. Despite losing the pot, Cheong is still among the tournament chipleaders.

Lichtenberger Takes One From Kuo

Niveau 10 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Kitty Kuo opened to 3,500 from early position and was called by both Andrew Lichtenberger out of the small blind as well as the big blind player.

Action checked to Kuo on the {8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop and she continued for 4,000. Lichtenberger responded with a check-raise to 12,000 and the big blind instantly mucked. Kuo did not throw away her cards quite as quickly but did do so eventually to send the pot Lichtenberger's way.
