Joining the action on the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Spades} turn, Sam Greenwood bet 1,500 out of the blinds and his brother Luc folded. Adrian Mateos, sitting in between them, called before giving up the {2-Clubs} river to a another bet by Sam.

Morning Satellite Numbers

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

There were 65 entries with currently around 40 remaining and on top of that, 12 rebuys were purchased in the €3,200 Turbo Satellite. That generated a total of eight tickets for the €25,750 High Roller and the 9th place finisher will receive €18,070 as consolation prize.

Zhu Pays Off

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante
Yaxi Zhu
Yaxi Zhu

PokerStars Team Pro Yaxi Zhu was just involved in a big hand where we picked up the action on the turn.

The board read {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Alexandros Kolonias checked from the big blind. Raouf Ibrahim made a bet of 1,500 from first position and Yaxi Zhu called from the button. Kolonias now check raised to 7,000 and Ibrahim folded. Zhu called.

The {6-Diamonds} completed the board and Kolonias bet 15,000. Zhu tanked for a long time, but eventually she tossed in three 5,000-chips to call. Kolonias showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Zhu mucked.

Despite losing that sizable pot, Zhu still has a decent stack of just under what she started with.

Patel Dropping Some

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

Emil Patel, Artem Metalidi and Dietrich Fast were involved in a three-way pot to the {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and checked through. On the {2-Diamonds} turn, Fast bet 750 on the cutoff and Metalidi folded, Patel called. The {8-Clubs} turn saw another bet of the German and he took down the pot.

Soon after, Patel raised to 600 from the break and Leonardo Cucchiarini checked his stack, then asked for a floor. He apparently saw on the app that it was supposed to be 250,000 chips but the Super High Roller structure was copied in there by mistake. The Italian raised to 2,100 and floor then explained him what happened.

Patel made the call but quickly gave up on a {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop to drop some more early on.

Andreev Takes from Newey

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 25 ante

At the very start of level one, table one started three-handed and it was Andrey Andreev who opened to 600 from the button. Paul Newey called on the button and the headed to a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Newey check-called a bet worth 1,500 before both then checked down the {3-Clubs} turn and {9-Hearts} river.

Newey rolled over {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes, but that ended second best to the {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of the Russian.

Welcome to Day 1 of the EPT12 Grand Final €25,750 High Roller

Another sunny day in Monte-Carlo
Another sunny day in Monte-Carlo

In two hours from now at 12.30 p.m. local time, the final highlight of the 2016 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final gets underway with Day 1 of the three-day €25,750 High Roller.

Many of the usual suspects are expected back at the tables of the Salles des Etoiles at the Monte-Carlo Bay Resort on this sunny day. Defending champion is Charlie Carrel, who defeated a 215-entry strong field one year ago for a payday of €1,114,000.

The eight-handed tournament provides levels of 60 minutes and a starting stack of 50,000 chips with 10 levels scheduled for Day 1, registration and single reentry remain available until 15 minutes prior to the start of Day 2 on Thursday.

A bumper field is expected and yesterday's Satellites have been very promising with 53 entrants (7 tickets) in the morning and more than 90 entries (10 tickets) in the evening. Another €3,200 Turbo Satellite kicked off half an hour ago as well.

As usual, the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to provide updates from the action at the tables, so stay tuned and find out who will lift the trophy on Friday by checking back regularly.
