Le dernier High Roller au programme du PokerStars & Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final 2016 a débuté mercredi. Avec un prix d'entrée de 25 750€, le vainqueur du tournoi va repartir avec au moins un million d'euros et donc plus d'argent que le vainqueur du Main Event dominé par Adrien Allain à 28 left.
L'an passé c'est l'Anglais Charlie Carrell qui avait pris le trophée et 1 114 000€ en devançant un field de 215 entrants après avoir battu Imad Derwiche en HU. Alors que les inscriptions sont ouvertes jusqu'à l'entame du Jour 2, l'édition 2016 a déjà rassemblé 220 entrants (dont 47 reentries) !
Jean-Noel Thorel, [Removed:119], Imad Derwich, Sylvain Loosli et Patrick Bruel étaient sur la ligne de départ, accompagnés par Ivan Deyra et Alexandre Reard qui avaient pris leur ticket sur un satellite. Patrick Bruel et [Removed:119] n'ont pas franchi les 10 niveaux de jeu d'une heure au programme du Jour 1 alors que Loosli a du passer par la case re-entry pour emballer des jetons (67 000 soit 33bb à la reprise).
Habitué des tournois les plus onéreux, Jean-Noel Thorel termine plutôt dans le haut du classement et disposera de presque 100 blindes pour le Jour 2. Le rêve continue pour Ivan Deyra qui a enchaîné 3 places payées en 3 tournois European Poker Tour et a passé 
contre 
à tapis préflop en fin de journée pour ensacher 70 belles blindes ! Alexandre Reard reviendra lui avec 22 blindes alors qu'Imad Derwiche en aura 55.
La journée avait commencé calmement avec 6 tables mais les joueurs ont ensuite répondu présent. La partie s'est même déroulée avec le toit de la Salle des Etoiles ouvert pour la première fois depuis le coup d'envoi du festival clôturant la saison 12 de l'EPT, un moment qu'ont apprécié tous les joueurs présents.
Comme le Team Pro Winamax cité précédemment, certains éliminés précoces ont donc décidé de profiter de l'option re-entry : Mikita Badziakouski et Isaac Haxton ont franchi le Jour 1 avec respectivement 63 et 33 blindes pour le Jour 2. Charlie Carrel a lui re-entry à deux reprises... sans succès. Le tenant du titre aura toute la nuit pour réfléchir à l'utilisation d'une quatrième chance !
Leon Tsoukernik, Sean Winter, Fabian Quoss et Fedor Holz ont eux aussi sauté après avoir re-entry, ils pourraient bien revenir en jeu avant l'entame du Jour 2 et faire gonfler un prizepool qui s'annonce alléchant. De nombreux joueurs ont connu une meilleure journée que ce quatuor.
Le run good de Farrell
Runner-up du France Poker Series Monaco 2016 il y a quelques jours, l'Ecossais Niall Farrell a monté le plus gros tapis. Le vainqueur de l'EPT Malte a ensaché 311 200 jetons et disposera de 155 blindes à la reprise. Il devance Saar Wilf (144bb), Dong Zhao (140bb), David Dayan (136bb), Dan Smith (136bb) et Ivan Luca (130bb). Parmi les 96 survivants du Jour 1, on retrouve l'animateur du début de semaine, Ole Schemion. L'Allemand n'aura que 10 blindes à la reprise mais un double-up et tout est possible.
Erik Seidel (88bb), Daniel Negreanu (68bb avec 1 re-enry), Jason Mercier (27bb), Davidi Kitai (20bb et 1 re-entry), Dzmitry Urbanovich (19bb), Adrian Mateos Diaz (62bb), Anthony Zinno (61bb), Felix Stephensen (60bb), Martin Jacobson (123bb), Andre Akkari (85bb) et Vladimir Troyanovskiy (85bb) sont eux aussi encore dans la course pour un Jour 2 qui s'annonce disputé !
La reprise se fera sur les blindes 1000 - 2000 (300) à partir de midi 30 avec une centaine de joueurs. La partie se prolongera probablement jusqu'à la constitution de la Table Finale si elle n'est pas atteinte à l'issue des 10 niveaux au programme de ce High Roller disputé en 8-handed.

Last year a total of 215 entries and Charlie Carrel won it for €1,114,000. He won't go back to back, as he's been eliminated twice today already. The tournament is going to crown a new champion, but we'll have to wait 2 more days to find out who'll be going home with the trophy.
