Benitez Folds; Sikora Calls

Niveau 4 : 200/400, 50 ante

Two hands took far longer and minutes into the break.

On the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} turn with approximately 12,000 chips in the pot, Dan Smith moved in for his last 11,375 and Francisco Benitez had a decision to make. Plenty of small talk followed with Smith claiming to be on tilt. "You got it figured out, so guess you gotta call," Smith added and Benitez eventually folded. Smith mucked high enough that an eight was flashing and Benitez just laughed.

One table over, there was a pot of around 10,000 and the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} turn was checked through. On the {Q-Hearts} river, Jaroslaw Sikora bet 2,700 and Simon Higgins then shoved for 33,850. The Pole tanked and made the call to smash his cards into the muck, exposing the {A-Spades} after Higgins had turned over {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush.

The dealer also turned over the second card, it was the {Q-Clubs}, while Sikora had already steamed out of the tournament area.

Hoefer On Double the Starting Stack

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

On the flop {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Paul Hoefer checked out of the blinds and called a bet worth 2,000 by Bahram Chobineh before they checked the {K-Spades} turn. Hoefer took the lead on the {K-Diamonds} river with a bet worth 3,500 and Chobineh called to muck once he was shown {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} for ace-high by Hoefer.

The table itself is quite interesting to say the least, below are the chip counts of the notables on it.

Carrel Gets Reinkemeier to Fold

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

After a board of {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, there were about 8,000 chips in the middle and Charlie Carrel, defending champion of this very event, moved all in for exactly 19,000. Next to him was sitting Tobias Reinkemeier, enjoying a massage, and he pondered about his decision.

Ultimately, Reinkemeier folded and the pot was pushed to Carrel. "I wouldn't fold aces," Reinkemeier said. For Carrel, it was just some consolation though after losing quite some chips on the first bullet so far.

Salter Doubles, Karmazinas Thinks He Looks Old

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 50 ante
Jack Salter
Jack Salter

Before the break we caught the tail end of a hand between Jack Salter and Kully Sidhu.

On a board of {2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} big blind Salter was all in for 32,700. Hijack Kully Sidhu was deep in the tank and said "You have a set?", before thinking about it some more.

Eventually he did call, and he got the bad news right away.

Jack Salter: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Kully Sidhu: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The river {6-Spades} was a blank and Salter doubled.

While the former EPT Grand Final runner up was still stacking his newfound chips, his neighbor Dominykas Karmazinas asked him how old he was.

"29, I'm an old man! What? You see the grey hair?"

To the table's surprise, Karmazinas answered affirmative; "Yeah, it's terrible!"

Salter laughed and said "Well, thanks for being so honest. How old are you?"

"28," Karmazinas anwered, "One more year and I'll look like this? Noooo!"

Big Stack for Muehloecker

Niveau 5 : 250/500, 50 ante

There was an empty seat over on table two and Thomas Muehloecker sat behind a pretty decent stack. A quick chat with the Austrian, who won the EPT10 Barcelona High Roller, revealed what had happened. Adnan Chamaa raised to 1,600 from under the gun and then called the three-bet to 4,500 by Muehloecker to see a flop of {J-}{10-}{5-} with flush draw.

Muehloecker checked, Chamaa bet 6,000 and was called. On the {Q-} turn, the Austrian check-raised from 9,000 to 22,000 and Chamaa called before the river brought a card to complete the flush draw. Muehloecker jammed to put his opponent at risk for 25,000 and was called by a set of jacks, showing ace-king for a straight.
