In two hours from now at 12.30 p.m. local time, Day 2 of the 2016 PokerStars.com EPT13 Malta €25,750 Super High Roller will get underway at the Casino Portomaso. The first day of the event saw a total of 44 unique players and 16 re-entries to create a field of 60 entries, of which 27 bagged up chips over night.

Leading the field is UK's Patrick Leonard, who now resides in Hungary, with 260,000, and he is closely followed by EPT10 Vienna Main Event champion Oleksii Khoroshenin with 256,000. Both already met at the final table of the EPT13 Barcelona €10,300 High Roller back in August this year, where Leonard finished 7th for €169,700 and Khoroshenin claimed a payday of €396,700 after coming 4th respectively.

In third place is Dario Sammartino with 202,900 and the Italian already enjoyed a decent start into this festival after finishing 3rd in Event #1, the €10,300 High Roller for €81,480. Other big stacks and notables include Mikita Badziakouski (195,500), Scott Seiver (194,700), David "MissOracle" Yan (146,700), Ole Schemion (132,000), Max Silver (131,500) and Davidi Kitai (100,300)to name just a few.

Action resumes with level 11 and blinds of 1,000-2,000 with a running ante of 300. All players that busted throughout Day 1 and only fired one bullet can still re-enter until 15 minutes prior to the start of Day 2, one such candidate is Paul Newey who busted in the last hand of the night. Furthermore, Alex DiFelice won his seat in a Hyperturbo Satellite and will be joining with a fresh stack of 50,000.

Another 10 levels of 60 minutes each are scheduled with a break every two levels and a dinner break after the end of level 16. However, play may continue until the final table of the last six is reached. Check back regularly to see who makes the cut for tomorrow, as the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to provide updates until a winner is crowned.

Paul Newey Eliminated Right Off The Bat

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Paul Newey
Paul Newey

Yesterday, British High Roller Paul Newey was eliminated in the last hand of the day, but he bought himself back in for a second chance on day 2. Unfortunately for Newey, his second attempt ended on the first hand he played.

In the second hand of the day, Yan opened the action to 4,300 from under the gun. Paul Newey shoved all in from the blinds, for a little under 50,000, and Yan called right away.

Paul Newey: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
[Removed:17]: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The race was as classic as they'd come, and the coin landed in Yan's favor on {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

Hajiyev Busts Shak in Two Hands

Niveau 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Dan Shak
Dan Shak

Hand 1

Sam Greenwood raised from under the gun and picked up two caller sin Ramin Hajiyev as well as Dan Shak in the small blind. The flop of {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts} was checked to Hajiyev, who bet 8,800. Shak check-raised all in for 70,000 and Greenwood folded, Hajiyev called for slightly less.

Hajiyev: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Shak: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {3-Spades} turn and {Q-Hearts} river failed to improve Shak and he was left with very few chips.

Hand 2

The very next hand, Hajiyev raised from early position and Shak called all in from the button, Andras Nemeth called in the small blind. Nemeth check-folded the {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop to a bet by Hajiyev and the Azerbaijani tabled his {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Shak shook his head with a dry smile, as he turned over his {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. The {Q-Spades} turn and {8-Diamonds} river sent him to the rail and Hajiyev finished the job he had started the previous hand.

O'Dwyer Down

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

In the last hand of the previous level, action folded around to Max Silver in the small blind. He looked down at his cards and moved all in, putting Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind to the test.

It was around 14 big blinds to call for the 'Irishman', who reluctantly called it off after some thought.

Max Silver: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Steve O'Dwyer: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Silver paired his eight on the flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, taking a commanding lead in the hand. Neither the {10-Hearts} on the turn nor {5-Spades} on the river helped O'Dwyer, ending his tournament life.

Carrel Eliminated by Seiver

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

With 10,000 in the middle and {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts} on the table, Charlie Carrel moved all-in for 12,800 chips. Scott Seiver asked for a count but quickly realised he didn't need one to make the call.

Carrel's tournament life was at risk. He tabled {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for trips fives, but wasn't very happy to see Seiver's holding. He had {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a huge draw.

The river was the {8-Hearts}, which gave Seiver the flush, but the dealer missed it. She flipped Seiver's cards over and collected them in the muck. Seiver calmly told her he had rivered a flush and Carrel wasn't making a big deal out of it.

He just stood up and left the table, while the other players confirmed that Seiver indeed rivered his flush.

Ahadpour Loses Flip to Khoroshenin

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Behzad Ahadpour
Behzad Ahadpour

After losing a flip to Adrian Mateos, Oleksii Khoroshenin bounced back and rebuilt his stack within two hands.

Hand 1
Khoroshenin raised to 5,500, Dario Sammartino three-bet to 16,500 in the hijack and Khoroshenin then took down the pot with a four-bet worth 51,000.

Hand 2

From under the gun, Khoroshenin raised to 5,500 and Behzad Ahadpour moved all in for around 30,000 from one seat over. Khoroshenin glanced over briefly at the stack of his opponent and called.

Ahadpour: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Khoroshenin: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

The very entertaining Ahadpour, who experienced a roller coaster day with many all in situations in less than two hours, failed to improved despite many outs on a board of {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and joined the rail.

Scott Seiver Busts in Huge Hand

Niveau 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

The floor just announced it was going to be the last hand before the break and from the hijack Philipp Gruissem raised to 6,000. His neighbor Nariman Yaghmai called from the cutoff and Patrick Leonard was ready to see a flop as well from the small blind so he over called.

Big blind Scott Seiver had bigger plans and squeezed to 36,000. Both Gruissem and Yaghmai folded, Leonard asked how much Seiver had (we think he said he started the hand with 168,000) and called.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Leonard checked. Seiver bet 41,000 and Leonard shoved all in. Seiver snap called.

Scott Seiver: {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Patrick Leonard: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The {7-Diamonds} on the turn was one of the cards Seiver was looking for and Leonard let out a soft sigh. The {4-Spades} on the river, however, changed things drastically and Seiver said "Good game" before making his exit.

The other players left the stage as well as the break had just commenced, Leonard stayed for a bit to count and stack his chips.

Cooler for Heath

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Ben Heath
Ben Heath

While sitting under the gun, Ben Heath raised to 7,200. To his immediate left, Adrian Mateos threw in a three-bet to 20,000. It was folded around back to Heath and the Brit made it 51,400 to go. Mateos moved all in and Heath snap called.

Mateos: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Heath: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

Heath was in serious trouble and his tournament life was at risked. The flop made it even worse, giving Mateos a full house {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

No running queens for Heath with the {4-Hearts} and {J-Clubs} on the turn and river and he was eliminated from this High Roller.

Nemeth Eliminated by Schemion

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

Andras Nemeth was down to 51,000 and moved all in from early position. To his left, Ole Schemion asked for a count, before shoving all in as well. The rest of the table got out of the way and the cards were opened.

Nemeth: {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Schemion: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}

Schemion was way ahead with his aces and Nemeth needed some escape route to stay in the tournament.

The {7-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, gave Schemion a set but provided Nemeth with some runner runner outs.

The {4-Clubs} on the turn was the best card in the deck for the Hungarian, because now he had a flush and straight draw.

The {J-Diamonds} that fell on the river, wasn't one of his outs and he was done for this tournament.

Buldygin Doubles, Then Busts

Niveau 13 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Viacheslav Buldygin
Viacheslav Buldygin

Hand 1

Allan Sannier open-shoved from the small blind and Viacheslav Buldygin called for 29,700 all in from the big blind.

Allan Sannier: {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Viacheslav Buldygin: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Buldygin scored a double-up.

Hand 2

Two hands later, Davidi Kitai raised to 7,200 from middle position. Buldygin shoved 59,500 all in on the button and Kitai called.

Viacheslav Buldygin: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Davidi Kitai: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

This time, it was Buldygin holding ace-jack, and he was in a lot of trouble. The {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} failed to provide help, making the Russian, who noted a €126,300 score earlier this week, the 17th place finisher. With Buldgyin's bustout, there will be a redraw for the last two tables.
