First Break of Day 2 with Valle in the Lead and No More Kassouf

Niveau 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Guillaume Valle
Guillaume Valle

The first two levels of 75 minutes are done and dusted and six further players registered for the 2016 PokerStars.com EPT13 Malta Main Event. Along with two no-shows, the field size was set with 468 and the top 87 spots will get paid at least €8,070 for their efforts, whereas the winner will receive a payday of €355,700.

It all started with a bang, as William Kassouf endured a deja vu from the 2016 Main Event when he ran with kings into aces, Vladimir Troyanovskiy busted with deuces in the same hand as well. [Removed:17] got his short stack in good with ace-queen, but Roberto Romanello's {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} spiked a jack on the board to bust the €25,750 Super High Roller champion.

Another surprise exit in the first level of the day was the elimination of Jakub Michalak. The Pole, who won the €10,300 Single-Day High Roller last night, sent his stack over to Guillaume Valle and the Frenchman ended level 12 with a massive stack of 290,000 - good enough for the lead.

Georgios Zisimopoulos lost a flip against Guillaume Diaz and Charlie Carrel also joined the rail in the second level of Day 2. Other casualties included the sole remaining PokerStars Team Pro George Danzer, Koray Aldemir, Paul-Francois Tedeschi, Mikhail Petrov, Russell Thomas and IPT Malta High Roller champion [Removed:551].

Among the big stacks after level 12 are Dan Shak (260,000), Xixiang Luo (240,000), Dominik Panka (220,000), Piotr Franczak (210,000), Davidi Kitai (190,000), Sarah Herzali (185,000), Roberto Romanello (180,000) and Ismael Bojang (180,000) and Frederik Jensen (170,000). Bojang doubled through Ludovic Geilich with set against flush draw, Geilich recovered to around 80,000by now.

Another two levels will be played for today and 160 hopefuls remain, it is likely that the money may be reached throughout Day 2 still.

Staszko Busts Yilmaz

Niveau 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Aykutalp Yilmaz raised to 2,500 from middle position. Former WSOP Main Event runner-up Martin Staszko called on the button, Peter Ockenden called in the small blind and Benjamin Pollak called in the big blind. The flop was {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Yilmaz continued with 4,800, with Staszko being the only caller.

The {K-Diamonds} on the turn paired the board and Yilmaz checked. Staszko bet 10,000 and called a check-shove for 35,900 total. Yilmaz had {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, but was already drawing dead against Staszko's {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, making the {8-Clubs} river meaningless.

Also at that table is the presumable chipleader Guillaume Valle, who's already up to 320,000 early on Day 2.

Bojang Doubles Through Geilich; Hunter gets Rivered

Niveau 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Ismael Bojang reported about a double up against Ludovic Geilich, when the duo once again clashed in a three-bet pot like they did before. Bojang then check-raised the {J-}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop from 7,500 to 20,000 and Geilich shoved with the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Bojang called with pockrt sixes for middle set and held up.

Just now, Bojang raised to 3,000 from the hijack and Geilich called in the cutoff. Marc Hunter shoved for 10,100 on the button and Bojang folded, Geilich called.

Marc Hunter: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Ludovic Geilich: {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The board of {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} gave Geilich a flush and Hunter left with the words "good luck guys."

Bojang is not the biggest stack at that table, as Dan Shak has even more than the German.

Niveau 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Fabrice Soulier
Fabrice Soulier

Fabrice Soulier came in with a 2,700-raise from first position. Two seats over, Mikita Badziakouski made the call and Stephen Chidwick, seated next to him, joined as well.

Three players saw the {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop. Soulier checked to Badziakouski and the Belarusian bet 4,500. Chidwick called directly, Soulier needed some time but did the same.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and was checked through. The {8-Diamonds} hit on the river and all three checked again. Soulier showed {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the rivered flush and won the hand.

This very table will be moved to the feature stage after the upcoming break.

Zawadzki Doubles Through Jensen

Niveau 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From under the gun, Mikolaj Zawadzki raised to 2,600. It was folded around to Frederik Jensen on the button who three-bet to 6,600. The blinds got out of the way and Zawadzki made the call.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Zawadzki checked to Jensen. The Dane made a continuation bet of 6,700 and Zawadzki quickly moved all in for 22,000 total. Jensen directly called and the cards were open.

Mikolaj Zawadzki: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Frederik Jensen: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Zawadzki was at risk and needed to hit a club or running cards to survive. The turn give him the card he wanted with the {4-Clubs}. Jensen had the {Q-Clubs} so he needed another club on the river to score the knock-out.

The river was black but it was the {5-Spades} and Zawadzki doubled up.
