Martin Nikolov Eliminated in 15th Place (€25,030)

Niveau 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Martin Nikolov
Martin Nikolov

After he doubled up Xixiang Luo, Martin Nikolov was left with around 20 big blinds. He just got it all in preflop against Peter Ockenden.

When folded to him, Nikolov moved all in for 411,000. Ockenden asked for a count and then moved all in himself for slightly more.

The rest of the table folded and the cards were opened.

Martin Nikolov: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Peter Ockenden: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

It was a race and Nikolov saw a dreadful ace on the {5-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop. The turn wasn't of any help with the {J-Hearts} and he needed to hit a ten to survive.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Nikolov stood up and shaked hands with Ockenden. "Good luck", he said while leaving the table.

Yury Gulyy Eliminated in 16th Place (€19,640)

Niveau 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Yury Gulyy
Yury Gulyy

Action folded to Dmitry Yurasov in the small blind, who slid a mountain of green T-25,000 chips forward. Short stack Yury Gulyy stacked up his chips to call, but waited until the hand between Ole Schemion and Bastian Dohler at the feature table was over, in the hope somebody would bust.

When that hand came to a conclusion, Gulyy called all in for 150,000.

Dmitry Yurasov: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Yury Gulyy: {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Gulyy was a bit in front before the flop and massively in front after the {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop hit the felt. One of Yurasov's backdoors opened up on the {5-Diamonds} river, making Gulyy stand up to sweat the river.

Yurasov completed his miracle backdoor with the {3-Diamonds} on the river, sending a shocked Gulyy to the rail in 16th. With Gulyy's elimination, all remaining players are now guaranteed at least €25,030.

Frederik Jensen Eliminated in 17th Place (€19,640)

Niveau 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Frederik Jensen
Frederik Jensen

Xixiang Luo open-shoved 169,000 from the cutoff. Frederik Jensen called all in for 87,000 on the button, and the blinds folded.

Xixiang Luo: {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Frederik Jensen: {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Luo flopped two pair on {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and took a big lead in the hand. Jensen stood up and put his backpack on, just like he did earlier when he rivered the gutshot straight to stay alive. Luo, however, was having none of the stand-up trick and quickly stood up as well.

"Oh, you counter," laughed Jensen at Luo's attempt to balance the luck scales. Perhaps it worked out for the Chinese pro, as the dealer turned the {K-Spades} to seal the hand, making the {8-Diamonds} river meaningless.

Jensen's run for a second EPT title came to an end in 17th place, and the Danish pro will go home with €19,640. The remaining sixteen players will redraw for the final two tables.

Panka Doubles; Jensen Left Crippled

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Dominik Panka
Dominik Panka

There was a lot of preflop action on the feature table. Bastian Dohler raised to 32,000 and Dominik Panka threw in a three-bet to 112,000.

It was folded to Frederik Jensen and the former EPT champion four-bet all in for 569,000 in total. Dohler got out of the way, but Panka made the call.

It was Panka who was all in for 505,000. Jensen had him barely covered.

Dominik Panka: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Frederik Jensen: {9-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Jensen's squeeze did not get through, but it wasn't as bad as it could be. It was still a race.

The {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop gave Panka a set, but Jensen had outs with a double belly buster straight draw. The {2-Spades} turn did not help the Dane and neither did the {Q-Hearts} on the river. Jensen was left with just four big blinds.

Guillaume Diaz Eliminated in 18th Place (€19,640)

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Guillaume Diaz
Guillaume Diaz

Down to just ten big blinds, Guillaume Diaz shoved 157,000 total from under the gun. Frederik Jensen called from the cutoff, which brought the action to Bastian Dohler on the button.

The German, who won his package for EPT Malta with a €10 Spin & Go on PokerStars, went all in over the top for 492,000. Jensen immediately called to put both players at risk.

Guillaume Diaz: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Frederik Jensen: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Bastian Dohler: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Jensen was in prime position to score the double knockout, but the {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop flipped the tables on the former EPT champion. Dohler flopped a set of tens to take a commanding lead in the hand.

The {5-Diamonds} on the turn made things interesting, giving Jensen a flush draw to go with the case king. Diaz needed to hit a non-diamond queen to save his tournament.

The river {6-Hearts} sealed it for Dohler, who raked in a pot of over a million chips. Diaz was forced to the rail, while Jensen had to ship almost half his stack to his German neighbor.

Armin Mette Eliminated in 19th Place (€19,640)

Niveau 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Armin Mette
Armin Mette

From the cutoff, Armin Mette raised to 33,000 and Benjamin Pollak defended his big blind.

The flop {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} provided a lot of action. Pollak checked, only to check-raise when Mette fired out a bet of 38,000. Pollak made it 102,000 and Mette rechecked his cards twice before moving all in for around 200,000. Pollak immediately called.

Armin Mette: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Benjamin Pollak: {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Mette had flopped top pair, but was way behind against Pollak's flopped straight. The Swiss started packing his bag while the dealer was ready to lay down the turn.

It was the {3-Spades} and it was all over for Mette. The {3-Diamonds} on the river didn't matter anymore.

"Nice hand", said Mette while he zipped his bag, and went on his way to the payout desk.

Sergey Sergeev Eliminated in 20th Place (€19,640)

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Sergey Sergeev
Sergey Sergeev

At the feature table, Sergey Sergeev got it preflop all in for 584,000 against Ole Schemion. Sergeev was on the button in the hand and four-bet shoved against Schemion, who had three-bet him out of the small blind.

Sergey Sergeev: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Ole Schemion: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The Russian found himself in a massive hole from the start, and the {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop made things even bleaker. The {2-Hearts} on the turn left Sergeev drawing dead, making the Barry Greenstein-esque {A-Diamonds} on the river just for the show.

The Russian received €19,640 and might just use that money to get his favorite massage therapist back and jump directly in the €10,300 High Roller

Brian Altman Eliminated in 21st Place (€19,640)

Brian Altman had only just 130,000 left in chips. From the button, he pushed everything over the line. Elie Saad folded, but big blind Louis Cartarius quickly made the call.

Brian Altman: {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Louis Cartarius: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

Altman was on the brink of elimination. The {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop did give him some extra outs, as he now had straight outs to go with the aces.

He paired up with the {8-Diamonds} on the turn, but Cartarius improved to a straight. The {3-Spades} river was a blank and Altman was on his way out. Cartarius scored his second knockout in quick succession.

Davidi Kitai: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Louis Cartarius: {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}

It was safe for Kitai after the {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{K-Hearts} flop and {9-Clubs}, but the dreaded {A-Clubs} fell on the river. His dream of winning a second EPT title came to an end, and Kitai let out an audible sigh. The Belgian mastermind finished in 22nd place.
