EPT Monte Carlo HR : Benjamin Pollak s'impose pour 705,840€

Niveau 30 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
EPT High Roller Champion Benjamin Pollak
EPT High Roller Champion Benjamin Pollak

Last year, Haoxiang Wang got as close as you can to winning a European Poker Tour EPT Main Event, going into the final table at EPT Barcelona as the chip leader but ultimately having to settle for second.

In Monte Carlo, there’s a chance for redemption as his countrymate and roommate here in Monaco Wei Huang now sits at the €5,300 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event final table big stage with the golden trophy and €827,700 on the line.

“Last year I lost the championship, so I really want my friend to win, so I can touch the trophy,” Wang told PokerNews.

Laszlo Bujtas raised all in from the button for 435,000 and Marton Czuczor called in the big blind.

Laszlo Bujtas: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Marton Czuczor: {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} with no help to Czuczor. The turn was the {9-Spades} giving him a gutshot straight draw to eliminate Bujtas. And the {8-Clubs} river sensationally gave it to him, completing his straight and sending Bujtas to the rail in fourth place.

Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

Blind on blind, Koray Aldemir limped in the small blind and Laszlo Bujtas raised to 175,000 in the big blind. Aldemir called.

On a {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts} flop, Aldemir checked and Bujtas bet 200,000. Aldemir called.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and Aldemir checked again. Bujtas took his time, using one of his remaining time extensions, before betting 475,000. Again, Aldemir called.

The river was the {8-Clubs}. Aldemir checked and Bujtas moved all in for 1,360,000, covering his opponent by around 100,000.

This time Aldemir used one of his time extensions before calling.

Bujtas shook his head, tabling the hand made famous by Doyle Brunson - {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Aldemir turned over {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and allowed himself fist pump, obviously proud at his call.

Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Michael Addamo was sitting on a stack of around seven big blinds and he pushed all in for a little over 300,000. Benjamin Pollak was in the small blind and re-shoved all in. Marton Czuczor folded his big blind and the two hands were tabled.

Benjamin Pollak: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Michael Addamo: {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}

Addamo found himself dominated but picked up some chop outs on the flop of {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. The {5-Spades} gave Addamo a winning straight draw but the {10-Hearts} on the river only improved Pollak's hand. Addamo was eliminated in fifth place and Pollak moved over 2,000,000 chips.

Sergio Aido Eliminated in 6th Place (€188,980)

Sergio Aido
Sergio Aido

The action folded to Laszlo Bujtas in the small blind who shipped all in. Sergio Aido was in the big blind and instantly called off his last 790,000 after looking at his cards.

Laszlo Bujtas: {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Sergio Aido: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Aido was in a great position to double up with the best possible starting hand. However, the dealer fanned the flop of {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Bujtas flopped two pair. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} to give Aido some more outs but the {7-Hearts} on the river sent him to the payout desk in sixth place.
