Chen With The Blades

Niveau 6 : 200/500, 500 ante
Pete Chen and Benny Glaser
Pete Chen and Benny Glaser

With around 30,000 in the middle, action was on Pete Chen in the small blind. The board read {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Chen decided to fire all his remaining chips in the middle, totaling 21,200. Cassio Pisapia De Almeida Kiles, as the official name of his Brazilian opponent in the hand read, shook his head and thought for about a minute.

Playing 18,900 himself, De Almeida called it off for his tournament life.

Pete Chen: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Cassio Pisapia De Almeida Kiles: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Chen's blades outranked the ace-high by a mile and the Brazilian headed out of the tournament area.

Felipe Ramos

With the board reading {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Tom-Aksel Bedell was all in for his final 7,000 and Felipe Ramos was considering it for the vast majority of his remaining stack. He ultimately called it off.

Tom-Aksel Bedell: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Felipe Ramos: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Bedell had fifteen outs coming into the river but whiffed all of them when the {a-Spades} got dealt.

"Nice call," Scott Wellenbach said to Ramos.

Toma Short on Second Bullet

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Four ways to the {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, action checked to Alexandre Reard on the button and he made it 1,000 to go. Tsugunari Toma check-raised to 3,200 in the under-the-gun position and Reard was the only caller. The {2-Diamonds} turn paired the board for the second time and Toma checked.

Reard made it 2,900 to go and that won the pot right there.

Updated Counts

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Sam Grafton is building nicely and just took a pot down on the flop after defending his big blind versus a late position open. He check-raised the 1,300 bet to 3,200 on the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} board. He didn't meet any resistance and scooped the chips.

Below are some updated counts for you.

EPT Monte Carlo: Charlie Carrel Grows Up

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

For a “former professional poker player” (and former garish dresser), Charlie Carrel has been putting on a stellar display so far at EPT Monte Carlo, final tabling three high rollers in a row for more than half a million euros.

But if it’s not poker, what does Carrel now consider his job? And what does he make of the current high roller world he’s still a crusher in? We caught up with him during his epic Monaco run to find out.

Antonius Below Starting Stack

Niveau 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius

According to Sonny Franco, Patrik Antonius lost a big pot as Giovanni Rosadoni from one seat over doubled through him.

Antonius fell below the starting stack and raised it up to 900. Rosadoni called, the button raised to 4,200 and Andrei Konopelko flat-called in the big blind. All other players including Antonius folded and the flop of {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Spades} was checked. Konopelko bet the {3-Hearts} turn for 5,000 and that won the pot.
