Masato Yokosawa
Masato Yokosawa

Viktor Katzenberger raised to 26,000 from under the gun and Masato Yokosawa shoved for 138,000 from the button after having shoved from the cutoff the hand before. Action folded back Katzenberger who asked for a count, the dealer confirmed the amount and Katzenberger made the call.

Masato Yokosawa: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Viktor Katzenberger: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for them both to flop top pair but Yokosawa's ace-kicker helped to stay ahead as the top pair turned into two pair and he doubled up.

Banicevic Doubles Through Yokosawa

Niveau 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

First hand back from the dinner break and it was a big one over on Table 1. Dario Sammartino opened to 26,000 and Jack Maskill three-bet to 75,000 on the button. Masato Yokosawa four-bet all in from the small blind and Vlado Banicevic couldn't call quick enough in the big blind. It convinced Sammartino and Yokosawa to get out of the way quick enough and they flipped their cards on their backs.

Vlado Banicevic: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Masato Yokosawa: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Yokosawa couldn't find a jack on the {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} board and he had to hand over 280,000 chips over to Banicevic.

Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

We’d bet there aren’t many poker players at this European Poker Tour stop in Monte Carlo with a story as interesting as Maria Konnikova’s. The psychology PhD, New York Times best-selling author and PokerStars Ambassador is back in Monte Carlo for her third time, marking the two-year anniversary since she started playing poker from scratch.

We caught up with Konnikova in Monaco to talk about her study regime, the powerful poker minds she mines, and how the writing of her highly anticipated new book, The Biggest Bluff, has been balanced with her poker grind.

The 42 remaining players have just been sent for their 75-minute dinner break and will return at 8:24 PM local time to play Level 20 which features a small blind of 6,000, big blind of 12,000, and big blind ante of 12,000

Zeitoun Crushed After Five-Bet Shoving Flop

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Johann Zeitoun
Johann Zeitoun

In one of the final hands before the dinner break, Timothy Adams and Johann Zeitoun went to war at the feature table. It started off with Zeitoun raising from under the gun with {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Adams defending his big blind with {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

The flop was {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to improve Adams to trips and a huge lead in the hand. He checked, Zeitoun bet 20,000 and Adams check-raised to 61,000. Zeitoun clicked it back to 140,000, bringing it back to Adams. The Canadian high staker cut out a four-bet to 260,000, putting the decision back on Zeitoun.

The Frenchman decided to five-bet shove the flop for 834,000 and Adams instantly called it off for 747,000 total. Zeitoun got up from his chair to see neither {10-Clubs} turn nor {2-Hearts} river help his case. Adams soared up the leaderboard while Zeitoun was left with mere crumbs.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and Rezaei lead out with a bet of 60,000. He was called and when the {5-Spades} river came down he pushed all in for his remaining 220,000.
