Five Players Return at Noon But Only One Will Win the EPT Prague Main Event & €1,005,600

Tournament Room
Tournament Room

A few days ago, 1,154 entries were collected to create the third-biggest ever PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague Main Event and a mere five players are left here at the Hilton Prague to challenge each other for the bulk of the €5,596,900 prize pool as the winner will walk away with €1,005,600. All five players are guaranteed to pocket at least €241,230 when they return to the table at noon local time.

As a matter of fact, a 2-minute silence will be observed first, at 12 p.m. exactly, to honor the victims of the hospital shooting a week ago. Once that has been observed, players will start with Level 29 which features a small blind of 50,000, big blind of 100,000, and a big blind ante of 100,000. Gaby Livshitz bagged 11,205,000 in chips last night for the chip lead, he is followed by Ricardo Da Rocha (7,925,000), Norbert Szecsi (7,350,000), EPT9 Barcelona Main Event champion Mikalai Pobal (4,740,000), and Tomas Paiva with 3,380,000.

With the shortest stack at 34 big blinds and the biggest at 112, there’s still loads of room to play so the players are all geared up for the battle. A 20-minute break will take place after each level which will last 90 minutes until there are three players left. The level duration will then be reduced to 45 minutes each. At the end of the day, one player will be left with all the glory.

This is what they are still playing for:

PlacePrize (in EUR)Prize (in USD)
1€1,005,600$1,118,277
2€598,880$665,985
3€421,450$468,673
4€316,780$352,275
5€241,230$268,260

The PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you the updates on a 30-minute delay to be in line with the live stream so stick around to see who will be lifting up that trophy in the end.

Norbert Szecsi raised to 250,000 from under the gun with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Gaby Livshitz three-bet to 825,000 in the cutoff with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Action folded back to Szecsi who called.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for Livshitz to hit two pair. Szecsi check-called the 900,000 continuation-bet of Livshitz.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} for Livshitz to improve to a full house. Szecsi checked and Livshitz did the same.

The river completed the board with the {k-Hearts}. Szecsi checked for the last time. Livshitz barreled a bet of 2,050,000 over the line. Szecsi took another look at his cards and then made the call to see he was wrong and for the chip lead to go back to Livshitz again.

Niveau 30 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Tomas Paiva
Tomas Paiva

Gaby Livshitz raised it up to 250,000 with the {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Tomas Paiva called in the big blind with the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. On a flop of {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, Paiva checked and Livshitz bet 275,000 into a pot of 680,000. Paiva raised to 1,400,000 with 125,000 behind and called the shove of Livshitz with his top pair.

Livshitz had a flush draw and gutshot, and the {8-Hearts} turn improved Livshitz to a flush.

"Not over," he said as Paiva had trips and needed the board to pair. A blank {6-Clubs} came on the river and that sent Paiva to the rail in 5th place for €241,230.

Livshitz consolidated his lead with four players remaining and all remaining contenders have already €316,780 locked up for their efforts.

While Gab Yong Kim was unceremoniously eliminated in ninth place yesterday, in painful fashion to boot when his aces were cracked, the bustout signified a record finish on the European Poker Tour for a South Korean player.

Gaby Livshitz
Gaby Livshitz

Gaby Livshitz limped the small blind with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Mikalai Pobal in the big blind glanced down at the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} in the big blind. He raised small to just 325,000 and Livshitz limp-raised to 1,400,000, Pobal used one time bank extension and checked the stack of his opponent before making the call.

The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} to give Livshitz top pair and top kicker, and he bet 725,000 into a pot of nearly three million. Pobal let his 30-second shot clock run down and raised to 1,700,000 on his first time bank extension.

Livshitz moved all-in for 5,210,000 and was snap-called to immediately have a dry smile on the face when he would himself dominated.

Pobal had been his nemesis in the previous two all-in showdowns of the current level and Livshitz went from two to 10 outs on the {5-Diamonds} turn, but the {7-Hearts} river ended his run in 4th place for €316,780.

Norbert Szecsi
Norbert Szecsi

Norbert Szecsi raised to 450,000 on the button, Mikalai Pobal three-bet to 1,500,000, Szecsi responded with a shove for 6,340,000 which Pobal snap-called.

Norbert Szecsi: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Mikalai Pobal: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

They both got up from their chairs to inform their rails of what hands they held.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} to not help Szecsi and keep Pobal ahead.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} which didn't change much except for a possibility to split the pot.

The river completed the board with the {a-Hearts} to seal the deal as Pobal became the second player ever to win a second EPT Main Event after Victoria Coren Mitchell.

Pobal walked to his rail to celebrate and then to Szecsi for a quick hug while they congratulated each other on their results. Szecsi was sent to the payout desk to collect €598,880 while Pobal gets to claim the full €1,005,600.
