Xhavit Berisha Among Top Chip Counts in Day 1e

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Xhavit Berisha
Xhavit Berisha

It took almost 18 full levels of play for Day 1e of the 2022 PokerStars EPT Barcelona Estrellas Poker Tour €1,100 to reach its conclusion, however it only took 11 hours of play due to the 30-minute blind structure. The fifth of six starting flights drew the largest crowd with 1,735 total entrants with play to follow the previous flights’ schedule and play down to 15 percent. The magic number for today was 260 and was reached with 00:44 remaining in Level 18 (4,000/8,000/8,000).

Play was loaded with action due to the turbo blind structure and didn't even seem to slow down near the bubble as it only took one time stoppage to burst, the complete opposite of last night’s two-hour bubble. Several large stacks were visible throughout the room and it seemed as if there could be any one of a handful of players to emerge atop the counts when chips went into bags. However, it was Anthony Barrera who ultimately claimed that title after finishing the day with 860,000.

Hot on his heels were Rino Carolei (800,000), Loic De Doncker (771,000), Xhavit Berisha (761,000) and rounding out the top five is Laurent Cessy with 677,000. There were many other players over the half-million mark and the average chip stack on the day was 204,000.

Other notables to advance included Oren Rosen (372,000), Kenny Hallaert (359,000), and 2017 EPT Main Event Champion Sebastian Sorensson (196,000).

Many other players were not as fortunate on the day, and with the tournament only allowing two entries per flight, those players found themselves out of luck for this tournament as there were no more entries available. Among those who had to try again next year were PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro Lococo, Damian Salas, EPT High Roller winner Robert Cowen, and Jonathan Therme.

Only flight Day 1f remains, with its play still in progress and is projected to finish around 2 a.m. local time. Day 2 starts at noon local time on Friday where all flights will combine into one big field to play until a winner is crowned at the end of Day 4.

Bubble Burst With Brutal Beat To End Day 1e

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

With one player away from being in the money and ending the day, Yannick Autaa moved all in from under the gun for roughly 400,000, covering the whole table. It folded around to Flavien Mullet in the big blind who snap-called for an over-average stack of 245,000 total.

Flavien Mullet: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Yannick Autaa: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Mullet found the best hand possible and would only need to dodge two outs to bring a huge stack into Day 2. The board ran out {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Hearts}, giving Autaa one of the outs he needed on the river to score the knockout in brutal fashion and burst the money bubble to end Day 1e.

A full recap of the day will be available shortly.

Gillon Binks River to Scoop Three-Way All In

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Collin Gillon, Rolando Angel, and Ali Aram all got their chips into the middle in a three-way all in preflop, with Angel covering.

Ali Aram: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Collin Gillon: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Rolando Angel: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The flop came {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} to put Aram in the lead with his pair of aces, but the {8-Diamonds} turn gave Gillon some hope with an inside straight draw.

"Seven!" Shouted one of the players and sure enough the {7-Hearts} smacked down on the river to give Gillon the straight, which eliminated Angel close to the bubble.

Retkowski Lays a Trap for the Chip Leader

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Adam Milewski raised to 16,000 from under the gun and was called by chip leader Anthony Barrera, Javier Campomar Faillace on the button, and big blind Kamil Retkowski.

All four players checked the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop as the {7-Hearts} appeared on the turn. Action checked around to Barrera, who stuck in 24,000.

Campomar Faillace folded, but Retkowski moved all in for around 70,000. Milewski quickly got out of the way, but Barrera gave it some thought before mucking {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} face up.

Retkowski flashed two sevens for the turned full house as he dragged in the pot.

David Docherty: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, giving Docherty top pair and sent Agalliu to the rail.

Di Blasi Stays Alive Against Di Profio

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Francesco Di Profio raised to 18,000 and was called by Sina Alamzad in the small blind. From the big blind, Fabio Di Blasi shoved for 57,000, Di Profio re-shoved, and Alamzad got out of the way.

Fabio Di Blasi: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Francesco Di Profio: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Di Blasi needed to win the race to avoid becoming the latest bustout before the bubble and survived as the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.
