Marius Gierse Eliminated in 2nd Place (€957,590)

Niveau 20 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Marius Gierse
Marius Gierse

Marius Gierse ripped all in for 690,000 on the button and Adrian Mateos found a hand to call with from the big blind.

Marius Gierse: {j-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Adrian Mateos: {k-Spades}{3-Clubs}

Mateos was in much better position to finish things this time around. The flop of {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} missed both players, leaving Mateos in the lead with king-high. The {9-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing and the {9-Diamonds} on the river eliminated Gierse in second place.

Mikita Badziakouski was down to just 430,000 on the button and Adrian Mateos called from the big blind to Badziakouski at risk.

Mikita Badziakouski: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Adrian Mateos: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Mateos, once again, picked up a dominating hand and the flop of {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} put the Spaniard way out front. The {7-Clubs} on the turn left Badziakouski drawing to a chop only but the {7-Hearts} on the river would send him home in second place.

The action folded to Adrian Mateos in the small blind who raised to 500,000. Mikalai Vaskaboinikau was in the big blind with 440,000 and called off the rest of his stack.

Mikalai Vaskaboinikau: {k-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Adrian Mateos: {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Mateos picked up a pair of jacks to take the lead. The {a-Clubs} on the turn and the {5-Hearts} on the river provided no help to Vaskaboinikau who was eliminated in fourth place.

The action folded around to Laszlo Bujtas in the small blind who shoved all in for 205,000. Mikalai Vaskaboinikau was in the big blind and called to put Bujtas at risk

Laszlo Bujtas: {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Mikalai Vaskaboinikau: {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to give Vaskaboinikau a straight draw to go with his two live cards. The {a-Clubs} on the turn gave Vaskaboinikau the straight and Bujtas was left drawing dead to the {q-Spades} on the river.

Marius Gierse raised to 60,000 from the hijack and Kent Staahle just called on the button. The flop came {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Gierse checked to Staahle who bet 90,000. Gierse check-raised to 250,000 and Staahle used a time bank before shoving all in for 1,085,000. Gierse snapped him off with the best hand and the cards were on their backs.

Kent Staahle: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Marius Gierse: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The turn brought the {8-Clubs} which gave Staahle a straight draw but the {a-Diamonds} on the river improved Gierse to a set of aces and eliminated Staahle in sixth place.
