Bedell Sends Kamphues To The Rail In Brutal Fashion

Niveau 18 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Tom-Aksel Bedell
Tom-Aksel Bedell

Timo Kamphues opened to 16,000 from early position and both Tom-Aksel Bedell in the small blind, and Felipe Ketzer in the big blind made the call.

The flop fanned out 644 and Bedell elected to lead out for 28,000. Ketzer quickly got out of the way and Kamphues announced a raise to 74,000. Bedell took a moment before moving all in, well covering the roughly 200,000 total for Kamphues, who made the call for his tournament life.

Timo Kamphues: JJ
Tom-Aksel Bedell: A9

It was a sweat for Kamphues up against the flush draw for Bedell, but when the turn came the 4, it significantly reduced the outs for Bedell, who could now only hit an ace.

"There's a nice card," said Bedell sarcastically as he knew his chances to win were very slim.

The river, however, fell the A and Bedell jumped out of his chair in excitement as he hit the card he needed to take the large pot and send Kamphues to the rail on the soft bubble.

Yaroshevskyy's Hand Yields a Double

Niveau 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Igor Yaroshevskyy
Igor Yaroshevskyy

Igor Yaroshevskyy raised to 12,000 from middle position. Barak Wisbrod was in the small blind and he made it 42,000 when the action folded around to him. Yaroshevskyy put in the 30,000 extra, and the two saw a flop.

On 410K Wisbrod continued for 23,000 chips. Yaroshevskyy responded with a raise to 55,000, and now it was Wisbrod's turn to call, which he did.

The K rolled off and Wisbrod retook the aggression with a lead of 75,000. With all the chips thrown in the middle, Yaroshevskyy only had 120,000 behind and he risked all of them when went for the all-in. Wisbrod responded with a rapid call and there was a showdown.

Igor Yaroshevskyy: KQ
Barak Wisbrod: KJ

Both players had trip kings, but Yaroshevskyy had Wisbrod outkicked by one pip. The river was the 8 blank and Yaroshevskyy secured a big double-up. Meanwhile Wisbrod was left with less than 20 big blinds.

Oya and Beresford Battle for Chip Lead

Niveau 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Masashi Oya
Masashi Oya

Roman Samoylov started the action with a minraise to 12,000 from under the gun. In the next seat over, Masashi Oya put in a three-bet to 35,000 before Beresford made it 80,000 to go from the cutoff. Samoylov did not like what he had caused and folded. Following, Oya put forward all his time bank chips but the dealer only needed to take one off the stack before he put in the call.

The four-bet pot between two of the big stacks then saw a flop of 832. Beresford continues his aggression with a small continuation-bet of 45,000, which Oya check-called.

Oya checked again on the 9 turn and Beresford now put a whopping 150,000 chips in the middle. Again, Oya laid down all of his white time bank chips in front of him. And again, the dealer took only one before Oya made his decision. This time, he announced an all-in.

Beresford looked appalled, peeked at his cards once or twice, and tried to quickly count his chips. Before his allocated 30 seconds were over, he made the fold. Beresford is down to just under an average stack, while Oya now has the biggest one in the room.

Dimitar Danchev
Dimitar Danchev

Dimitar Danchev raised to 13,000 from the hijack and the action folded to Dominykas Mikolaitis in the small blind. He put in a three-bet to 50,000 before Danchev four-bet shoved his 155,000 stack in. A snap call from Mikolaitis followed and Danchev was at risk to lose his tournament life.

Dimitar Danchev: AK
Dominykas Mikolaitis: KK

Danchev was on the lookout for an ace, however none appeared on the low board of 668510. Danchev was eliminated in 39th place as the field creeps closer to the magic number of 31 players.

Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

Conor Beresford opened to 13,000 from the hijack and it folded to Alexandru Papazian in the big blind who moved all in for 47,000 total. Beresford asked for a count before making the call with a bigger stack and the cards were shown.

Alexandru Papazian: A8
Conor Beresford: 55

It was essentially a coin-flip preflop, but when the board ran out Q642K, it was the fives for Beresford that held up to send Papazian to the exit.

Manig Loeser
Manig Loeser

Steve O'Dwyer opened to 9,000 from under the gun and it folded to Dario Sammartino in the cutoff who made the call. Manig Loeser elected to move all in for 100,000 from the small blind and action was back on O'Dwyer who rejammed over the top to fold out Sammartino.

Manig Loeser: 99
Steve O'Dwyer: 1010

Loeser was in need of help against the better pair for O'Dwyer, and when the board ran out 6526A, it was the tens that held up to send Loeser to the exit.

O'Dwyer Scores Massive Double Up

Niveau 15 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

All the chips hit the middle preflop between Manig Loeser on the button and Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind, who was the player at risk for his stack of 191,000.

Steve O'Dwyer: 1010
Manig Loeser: AK

It was a classic coin-flip situation, and when the flop came 843, made it even more sweaty for O'Dwyer when Loeser picked up a flush draw to go along with his two overs.

The turn fell the 10 to give O'Dwyer a set, but he would still need to dodge a heart on the river to stay alive. The 4 completed the board and O'Dwyer's tens held up to score the massive double up off Loeser.

Sitbon Tells A Story

Niveau 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon came to the PokerNews desk on the break to share his bust-out hand. Apparently, Seth Davies opened to 7,000 from early position before Masashi Oya made the three-bet to 22,000. Sitbon then cold four-bet to 54,000.

Davies folded, but the preflop action did not end there as Oya put in the five-bet to 100,000 before Sitbon capped the betting when he wagered all of his 190,000 chips. Oya put in the call and the two players flipped over their cards in this six-bet pot.

Julien Sitbon: AxAx
Masashi Oya: KxKx

Sitbon only had to fade a king to ascend to the chip leader's residence and he seemed to successfully do so on the 7x5x4x flop. However, the turn was a devastating Kx and the river 3x remained free of aces.

Sitbon was eliminated, while Oya scored a huge pot to chip up to over ten starting stacks.

Faria Finds Huge Double

Niveau 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Luis Faria
Luis Faria

Ben Heath opened the action with a raise to 6,000 from middle position. Marius Kudzmanas flat-called from the hijack before Luis Faria pumped it up to 29,000 from the button. Heath got out of the way, but Kudzamans stuck around and made the call.

The flop fell 99Q and Kudzmanas checked to Faria. Faria then continued for 14,000, which Kudzmanas raised to 37,000. Faria thought about it for a bit before he ended up making the call.

The 10 turn was checked by both players and the A river graced the felt. Kudzmanas used one time bank chip before he announced his all-in, covering Faria's stack of 86,000. Faria made sure he heard Kudzmanas correctly before he quickly called.

Kudzmanas could not show more than a pair of eights with 88. Faria, on the other hand, was sitting on a monster with his QQ for a flopped full house. He slow-played it to perfection, getting paid the absolute maximum in the end.

Day 1 chip leader Kudzmanas handed in a lot of chips from his big stack but still has over 45 blinds to play with here on Day 2.
