Lex Veldhuis Among Final 22 Players Chasing First Place and Top Bounty After €3000 EPT Paris Mystery Bounty Day 2

Niveau 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

PokerStars ambassador and popular streamer Lex Veldhuis bagged and tagged after Day 2 in the €3000 mystery bounty event at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris. After a rollercoaster day, the Dutchman finished 19th in chips, bagging 530,000. Along with him are 21 other players remaining out of the 787 that have started. All of them still have a shot at the top bounty of €75,000, as only one of the two has been pulled today. They are of course also fighting for the €243,656 first prize from the €1,328,456 prize pool.

Chip leading those remaining is Martin Stausholm with 2,440,000 chips, which will be over 60 big blinds at the start of Day 3. Closing out the top three stacks are Gerard Rubiralta Cortes (2,000,000) and Jan Bednar (1,965,000). Other notables include Christopher Dowling, who is on the hunt for his third final table this EPT Paris, and Jonathan Proudfoot.

Day 2 Action

Late registration was still open until the start of Day 2, and many players took the option to buy-in at the last possible moment. Among those who did so, but failed to make the money are Parker Talbot and Fedor Holz.

111 players would reach the money, and with the staggering speed of play it did not take long to get there. Things would not slow down after the bubble burst, and many players had to say their goodbyes before the end of the day. Pieter Aerts, Morten Mortensen and Andrea Ricci were all eliminated before the end of day, but took home some money as a consolation prize.

Bounties Galore

Of course a big part of a mystery bounty event is the draw of the bounties themselves. Danut Chisu had the best day at the bounty desk, pulling both the top prize of €75,000 and another envelope containing €20,000. A third, more common, amount of €1,000 rounded out Chisu's catch, and he took home €96,000 in bounties, as well as €6,250 for finishing in 28th place. The two second biggest bounties of €35,000 fell victim to Conor Bergin and Aleksandar Tomovic, while Boris Angelov took home the last €20,000 bounty. As mentioned before, one top prize of €75,000 is still up for grabs for the players returning to Day 3.

The remaining 22 players will return to their seats on Friday Feb. 24th, and the blinds will resume with level 25: 20,000/40,000 with a 40,000 big blind ante. All levels will be 40 minutes long until the final three players, when they will be halved.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for live reporting of the action all the way to the winner, as well as the other tournaments that are happening here in the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile at our EPT Paris main hub.

Philip Shing raised his entire stack but one T-5000 chip from the cutoff, for a bet around 340,000. It folded around to big blind Philip Shing, who only had 100,000 chips left and reluctantly put in the call.

Jamie Le: {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Philip Shing: {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Le flopped a gutshot straight draw on the {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} board, but Shing's ace-high prevailed on {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, and Le was eliminated from the tournament.

Bednar Can't Get Rid of Sandev

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Georgi Sandev
Georgi Sandev

Georgi Sandev raised to 40,000 under the gun and Zhong Chen flicked in his last 5,000 from the cutoff. Jan Bednar and Maxim Lykov came along from the blinds to create a bigger side pot.

The flop fell {j-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Sandev continued with a bet of 40,000. Bednar check-raised to 125,000 which got Lykov out of the hand, but Sandev called.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Bednar sized up a bet of 190,000. Sandev still called and the {10-Hearts} completed the board. Bednar slid out a stack of 500,000, putting Sandev to the test for his remaining 362,000. After much deliberation and an incoming headache, Sandev dropped in a call.

Bednar turned over {6-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a missed straight draw while Sandev held {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to claim the massive side pot. Chen, meanwhile, was ecstatic to table his {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for top pair to win the main pot.

Sebbah Doubles Veldhuis, Busts Immediately After

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

Avner Sebbah had open-jammed from under the gun for 276,000. Lex Veldhuis was on the button and rejammed for only a little less; 253,000. The rest of the table folded and the pair were asked to show down their cards.

Lex Veldhuis: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Avner Sebbah: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Sebbah turned a gutshot straight draw on {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds} but failed to hit it on the river {5-Diamonds}.

Veldhuis doubled up and Sebbah was left with only one big blind.

That big blind had to be put in mandatorily next hand as Sebbah was in the big blind. Sebbah kindly asked who wanted his bounty, but only one player wanted it badly enough to raise; Paul Tedeschi opened the action to 60,000 and the rest of the table folded.

Avner Sebbah: {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Paul Tedeschi: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

Sebbah had outs until the river on {8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, but ultimately gave away his bounty token and said his goodbyes.

Galindo Chalks Up Another One

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Humberto Galindo
Humberto Galindo

Tobias Schwecht limped in from under the gun which allowed Humberto Lopes Galindo and Fabian Niederreiter to come along from the blinds. The flop came {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} which stirred on plenty of action.

Galindo checked to Niederreiter who bet 20,000. Schwecht raised to 63,000 and Galindo min-clicked to 106,000. Niederreiter got out of the way and Schwecht jammed all in for around 200,000. Galindo snapped him off and the cards were on their backs.

Tobias Schwecht: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Humberto Lopes Galindo: {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Schwecht was in tough with Galindo holding the next best hand compared to his pair of fives. The {10-Hearts} and {q-Hearts} runout changed nothing and Galindo earned another bounty chip.

Speranza Unhappy as He Takes His Leave

Niveau 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Gianluca Speranza
Gianluca Speranza

The action was caught on the turn with the board reading {j-Spades}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Hearts} and a big pot brewing between three players. Jan Bednar checked from under the gun before Gianluca Speranza bet 140,000 from the hijack. Gerard Rubiralta Cortes folded his button and the action was back on Bednar.

Bednar announced ''all-in'' and it took little time for Speranza to call to put himself at risk.

Gianluca Speranza: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Jan Bednar: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

Speranza had to fade many outs to win the pot and failed to do so on the {9-Clubs} river.

Speranza was clearly unhappy with the result, shoveling his chips to his opponent and trading some heated words. He called the floor to receive his payout and quickly fled the tournament room.

Meanwhile, Bednar is sitting on a healthy stack of over one and a half million.

Galindo Continues to Run Pure; Seo Runs Bad at the Mystery Bounty Chest

Niveau 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Moonho Seo
Moonho Seo

In the last hand of the previous level, Tobias Schwecht opened to 25,000 from under the gun and Humberto Lopes Galindo called from the small blind. Moonho Seo then jammed for 71,000 from the big blind.

Schwecht called but then folded when Galindo moved all in as the bigger stack.

Moonho Seo: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Humberto Lopes Galindo: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Seo could not connect on the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} runout and was eliminated.

Seo had managed to bag himself six mystery bounty tokens throughout the day and decided to redeem them at the mystery bounty chest. He pulled open all six envelopes at the same time and was disappointed to see that he had pulled six bounties worth €1,000 each.

Jonathan Proudfoot

Moonho Seo opened to 27,000 under the gun and Jonathan Proudfoot three-bet to 75,000 on the button. Seo called and the dealer spread the flop of {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Seo checked to Proudfoot who continued with a bet of 55,000 and Seo called.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Seo check-called another bet of 115,000 from Proudfoot. The {3-Diamonds} paired the board on the river and Seo just jammed all in. Proudfoot instantly called off his stack of 203,000 and turned over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} for the top full house. Seo was forced to show his {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} while he passed over a double-up.

Shylko Runs Into a Bigger Pair

Aliaksandr Shylko
Aliaksandr Shylko

The action folded to Aliaksandr Shylko in the cutoff who shoved all in for his last 177,000 chips. Moonho Seo was in the big blind and looked down at a premium before calling.

Aliaksandr Shylko: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}
Moonho Seo: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The flop of {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} provided no immediate help for Shylko but the {5-Spades} on the turn gave him a straight draw. The {10-Diamonds} bricked off on the river and the 2023 PSPC winner exited the tournament.
