Who Will Make the Money and Final Table in the MCOP Main Event?

Holland Casino Amsterdam
Holland Casino Amsterdam

Day 3 of the €4,300 Main Event of the Master Classics of Poker recommences at 1:30 p.m. local time at Holland Casino Amsterdam with 50 players out of 346 entries returning to the poker tables. The bubble is expected to start almost immediately as 47 players will be in the money for at least €8,632 but they will all have their sights set on the lion share of the €1,370,160 prize pool as the first-place prize doesn't only award the "bordje" (the Dutch word for plate) it comes with a hefty cheque worth €260,878.

Starting the day is Shyngis Satubayev from Kazakhstan with 1,074,000. He came into Day 2 with the overall chip lead after crushing Day 1a and exerted it well all day long to end up with a huge lead. His stack is worth 215 big blinds and he is followed by Ole Schemion with 145 big blinds. Schemion has won the event before in 2012 when the buy-in was €5,250 and attracted 212 entries. Schemion laid claim to €286,200 back then and will be looking forward to trying to become the first two-time champion.

Thirteen different countries are still represented in the final fifty players of which twenty are from the Netherlands. Pascal Vos, Gert Jan Albers, Rashed Zade, Dax Hagens, and Johan Rensink are in the Dutch top five but there are still many more familiar names left in the field.

Seven Fins are still left, Hassan Sey and Kimmo Kurko have already won a "bordje" this week in what has been a bit of a Finnish domination as they took six out of 13 bordjes that have already been awarded. Third in the countries list are the Germans with Schemion in the lead, followed by Christopher Frank, Claus Grether, Tom Kunze ,Bjorn Geissert, and Paul Hoefer.

Day 3 starts with Level 16 which features a small blind of 2,500, big blind of 5,000, and a big blind ante of 5,000. Ten levels of play have been scheduled but play is expected to end when the final table has been reached. A 15-minute break is planned after every two levels with a 60-minute dinner break after the fourth level of play.

Keep following the updates by the PokerNews live reporting team as the bubble is going to burst pretty soon after the day starts again. So if you want to know who will make the money and get onto the final table? This is the place to be!

Kuhlman Doubles Through Zade

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

The board read {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} with 77,000 in the middle already.

Rashed Zade bet 37,000 from the small blind and Rene Kuhlman was sitting in the tank in the middle position. After a while, Kuhlman decided to shove. Zade asked for a count and the dealer confirmed Kuhlman had 156,000 behind. Zade cut out calling chips, took some more time, and then made the call.

Kuhlman tabled {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the flopped straight and Zade mucked his cards immediately.

Small Pot for Hoefer

Niveau 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Paul Hoefer raised to 11,000 from the middle position and Dax Hagens also tried to raise to 11,000 from the button as he didn't see Hoefer's raise. He called and so did Olvedo Heinze in the big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}, Heinze check-folded to the 15,000 continuation-bet of Hoefer which Hagens did call.

They then both checked through the {q-Hearts} on the turn and the {j-Clubs} on the river for Hoefer to claim the pot with {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. Hagens showed he held {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for the flopped pair of eights.
