L'ultime journée du Main Event Master Classics Of Poker Amsterdam 2019 s'est étalé sur plus d'un tour de cadran et c'est un joueur local qui s'est imposé pour 260 878€.
"C'est délicieux", a confirmé Kevin Paqué après avoir levé son plateau, le Bordje qui fait office de trophée. Paqué empoche le graal après avoir battu un champion en head's up, l'Américain Steve O'Dwyer qui encaisse 174,421€ sur ce field de 346 entrants au Holland Casino Amsterdam.
"C'est le rêve de chaque joueur du pays de triompher ici, je n'ai pas les mots, je suis si heureux... Je n'ai pas réalisé que je gagnais durant une seconde, il y a eu un tel silence et cette explosion du rail... c'est là que j'ai su que c'était dans la poche", a commenté le joueur de 23 ans dont le meilleur résultat restait une défaite en HU sur un WSOP Circuit pour un gain de 36 000€.
"C'est un bon joueur, il semble avoir une bonne expérience en head's up, il a vraiment bien joué", a conclu un Steve O'Dwyer fair-play et présent sur un événement mis en place en 1992. Ce n'est que la 8e fois qu'un joueur néerlandais met la main sur la victoire !

Paqué avait débuté la journée en deuxième position, il a pris les commandes sur la première main en soutirant des jetons à Pascal Vos. "Je voulais devenir le Capitaine de table, j'avais la position idéale pour presser les short-stacks", a indiqué le vainqueur.
Ce travail de sape va être mis à mal par les double-ups des derniers de la classe. Au bout de plus de deux heures de jeu, l'Allemand Ole Schemion va être le premier à rendre les armes. Schemion va 3-bet call 
et s'incliner face à

Shyngis Satubayev va s'incliner contre le futur vainqueur sur la main suivante, de quoi s'approcher des 1,5 million de gains en carrière live. Pendant que Paqué enchaînait les ouvertures, c'est O'Dwyer qui va se relancer contre Johan Rensink avant de terminer le Néerlandais quelques minutes plus tard (7e).
Une heure plus tard, Jan Bednar s'est fait éliminer en combat de blindes par Paraskevas Tsokaridis avant que Frederico Silva ne s'incline contre Paqué (5e).
Tsokaridis a joué très peu de coups avant de doubler contre Pascal Vos, précipitant la fin du Néerlandais, sorti finalement par Paqué pour provoquer le plan à 3. Largement devant au chipcount, Paqué s'est retrouvé à jouer beaucoup de mains contre O'Dwyer, Tsokaridis restant largement en dehors de la conversation.
O'Dwyer va même réussir à reprendre les commandes avant de se faire dépasser à nouveau. Tombé à quelques blindes, le joueur de Grèce va finir par s'incliner sur un flip contre O'Dwyer... et remporter son plus gros gain au poker, un chèque de 124 548€.
Le dernier duel a duré. O'Dwyer a tout tenté, déjouant magistralement un bluff adverse pour revenir à 35 blindes puis doublant pour revenir à 25 blindes avant de contrer une nouvelle tentative de bluff de Paqué... Il a donc fallu patienter plus de deux heures pour qu'un gagnant ne se dessine.
