Troy Quenneville Leads After Day 2 of $5,300 Caribbean Poker Party MILLIONS Main Event

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Troy Quenneville
Troy Quenneville

The $5,300 MILLIONS Main Event at the Caribbean Poker Party Festival drew a total of 1,061 entries and 521 took chips out of the bag at the start of Day 2, but only 222 are still in contention at the conclusion of play seven levels later. Leading the way is the defending champion Troy Quenneville with 19,065,000, and not far behind are Kevin Rivest (14,745,000) and Francois Billard (11,790,000). A total of 111 places will be paid with a mincash good for $10,000 and the eventual champion taking home $1,000,000.

Alongside the current chip leaders, quite a few familiar faces will return for Day 3 action. Among them are partypoker Chairman Mike Sexton (4,635,000), three-time bracelet winner Adrian Mateos (2,550,000), 2014 Main Event Champion Martin Jacobson (1,990,000), and partypoker Sponsored Pros Padraig Parkinson (7,915,000), Richard Dubini (7,255,000), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (2,755,000), Roberto Romanello (2,100,000), Johnny Lodden (1,970,000), and partypoker Ambassador Joao Simao with 4,965,000.

Unfortunately, not all the fan favorites who took to the felt for Day 2 action survived to the day's end. Among the fallen are 2013 Main Event Champion Ryan Riess, three-time bracelet winner Benny Glaser, Bryn Kenney, Mike Leah, Jonathan Little, Stefan Schillhabel, and partypoker Sponsored Pros Kristen Bicknell and Natalia Breviglieri.

Action is scheduled to resume at noon local time on Thursday for Day 3. Be sure to check back here for continuing coverage of the $5,300 Main Event and the remainder of the Caribbean Poker Party Festival, presented by the PokerNews Live Reporting team.

End of Day 2

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Tables throughout the room are now finishing hand three of three, as players count up their chips and write down their stacks, before bagging up ready for Day 3, starting tomorrow at noon local time.

We will have a roundup of the day's action for you, including full chip counts, a little later on.

Lefort Wins The Flip

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Thomas Lefort moved all in for the last of his entire 2,450,000-chip stack. After some consideration, Roman Voronin called and they were off to the races.

It was Lefort's {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} versus Voronin's {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}, a race that was all but over as the dealer spread a {5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs} flop. The {8-Spades} on the turn offered Voronin some additional outs to a gutshot straight, but the {8-Hearts} river paired the board, with Lefort dragging in the pot for a late double-up.

Lopes Locks Up A Pot

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

There was roughly 2,000,000 in the middle with heads-up action on an {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{2-Spades} board. Carlos Lopes was put to a decision for 675,000 chips on the turn, which he called after a short dwell before the {3-Spades} rolled off on the river.

His opponent put it all in on the river, for Lopes' effective stack of 1,565,000. It didn't take Lopes long to make the call and was quickly shown {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for king-high. Lopes tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and pulled in a huge pot, more-than-doubling his stack.

Rivest Keeps Applying the Pressure

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Kevin Rivest was in the cutoff and went heads-up to the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop with his opponent in the hijack. His opponent bet 175,000 into a pot of around 300,000 and Rivest raised to 475,000. His opponent called and the {10-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn.

The action was checked to Rivest who fired another 1.025 million, which his opponent called. The river brought the {4-Hearts} and the action was checked to Rivest again. He eyed up his opponent's stack and then made a bet of 4.5 million. His opponent only had around 3.4 million remaining, thus putting his tournament life on the line should he call. He thought for over three minutes before finally electing to fold.

Godwin Calls Correctly

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

There was a substantial pot already brewing and the board read {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades} when we got to the table. Charlie Godwin was in the small blind and had already committed 150,000 chips on the river. Her opponent had shoved from the big blind and after some consideration, Godwin called with the larger of the two stacks. The big blind tabled {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and had already started standing up to make his exit before Godwin flipped over {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs} to take the pot.

2013 WSOP Main Event Champion Ryan Riess Eliminated

Niveau 15 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

The action was folded around to Ryan Riess on the button who shipped all in for his last 1.2 million. He was quickly called by David Laka Calzada in the big blind and the cards were tabled

David Laka Calzada: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Ryan Riess: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The board came {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Calzada hit a king on the turn to eliminate the former WSOP Main Event champion.
